Makes those teams look weak. They knew we were handed down a bias schedule. How about all three in Gainseville without a return game next year.
In 23-24, we played AU at home w/o a return trip to the Plains. We also played UK and UA @ home but each got a return trip to their floor. With the addition of 2 more members, it might be more difficult to do too many return trips now.
The San Diego games/tournament will be the first time Florida has ever played a men's basketball game in Southern California. Just purchased my tickets to the tournament.
We did do a trip to Cameron without a return game. That was in 1999. It was rumored that they had reneged, but Donovan made clear that he scheduled a single game because he wanted his young players to know what it was like to play an elite team. That paid off, as we beat them in the Sweet 16 the following year.
Yeah I think some Florida fans thought Duke was being chicken, but it was probably more like our football team, where giving away a home game means losing big bucks. Still, I would love to have Duke visit the ODome someday. Next year might be a good option, as Duke already played Auburn this year, so Duke and Florida would be the clear top teams remaining from each conference this year.
It's not so easy to back out of a contract. I think it was just a 1-game agreement because BD wanted to put the Gators on the map.
Maybe, but honor and respect demand a return trip. You’re right though. We did get them back in the tournament. We sure don’t need to accept a deal like that anymore.
If they pair UF with Duke and it's at Cameron stadium, I will prépare myself and not eat à meal before the game. I heard they have great home cooking at Duke.
