I can ignore that and I will ignore it. The USA needs stricter, uniform, gun laws. Full stop. Will that end all gun violence? No, of course not. But that's still what we need. And nobody said it would end all gun violence, so I won't go down that guy's irrelevant rabbit hole. Won't dignify his straw man argument, his subject change. You can feel free to. So I'm not interested in that guy's lengthy word salad - it's irrelevant. Our country needs stricter, uniform, gun regulation. I've provided a few obvious examples without really even trying.
Well this was not a case of the kid buying the gun himself, that’s where it’s super obvious and infuriating to see people say “nothing we could have done “ (when a person with documented mental issues isn’t blocked). That is the opposite of true in so many of those school shootings, it’s a very obvious roadblock. Not always 100% of the time, nothing is 100%, but quite often they seem very easy to potentially stop just with mental health holds. I also don’t like the idea of holding the parent CRIMINALLY culpable in a case like this. I do think maybe if people were held civilly liable when their guns were used in crimes it could have people better securing and accounting of their guns… i.e. taking personal responsibility. But if this kid was motivated enough to kill, “more security” such as a locked safe may not have stopped him. It’s just sort of unknowable. Maybe needing to steal the key from mom would be a roadblock, maybe it wouldn’t. For all we know maybe he already DID take them from a safe? I don’t think anyone should suggest any one solution as 100% effective. But many steps could reduce gun violence by some %. As with many things, it seems some are only capable of seeing 0’s and 1’s.
It was mocking and more than that! But that was certainly a main point of the mocking… It defines why too hot has become such a toxic place. I use to enjoy discussing with those that had opposing views. But the forum has become a cesspool of those that have no desire to actually engage. They just want to degrade discussion to a point that we are at. Sad reality. There are multiple posters that have blocked me that I enjoyed engaging with. But for some reason they can’t handle a differing view. I have been posting less and less and hope that changes. Not optimistic. Go Gators!
If the shooter had been trans, foreign, Muslim, black, or anything other a white Christian American kid, this would be 25 pages by now, and you'd be joining in your own toxic BS ... sorry it didn't work out for you this time...
Bible quoter and a Trumpster, too ... looks like the conservative media is trying to scrub this from the internet, though, as this article says it's disappearing from the internet. “You are my war club, my weapon for battle,” read the quote from Jeremiah 51:20. “With you I shatter nations, with you I destroy kingdoms.” Likewise, Ikner’s quote in an article about a student protest ahead of Trump’s inauguration in January had been removed to “maintain ethical journalistic standards and avoid amplifying the voice of an individual responsible for violence,” campus newspaper FSU News said in an editor’s note added to the article after the shooting. First Coast News grabbed the comment before it was deleted. “These people are usually pretty entertaining, usually not for good reasons,” Ikner had told FSU News. “I think it’s a little too late, he’s already going to be inaugurated on Jan. 20, and there’s not really much you can do unless you outright revolt, and I don’t think anyone wants that.” What we know so far about FSU shooting suspect Phoenix Ikner
Send this murderous domestic terrorist and his ilk on the first thing smokin to El Salvador. There’s no place for them in this country!
Yup, I felt it turning nasty early but refrained from pointing it out until all the idiots had joined in and made it all about politics.
No. I'm talking about one human being having empathy for another human being in the face of a tragic circumstance. Nothing political about it. You wouldn't mock someone for saying "sorry for your loss", would you? Same thing here.
Some of his quotes make him sound like an accelerationist far right extremist. There are documented issues with them in military and policing. Some call studying these issues “woke” without really knowing what any of it means or how dangerous it is having these people in police or military. Imagine if this guy followed his mom into law enforcement? That seems to be the path he was on… Of course not sure we can conclude ideology was a motive vs something else that triggered him to lash out violently. For all we know his girlfriend dumped him or a professor failed him on an exam.
Actually he should get the death Penalty in FL. Im against the death penalty in almost all cases, even most homicides. I don’t like even 1:1,000,000 chance of a govt unjustly putting the wrong person to death. I think when it’s a mass shooter or terror type act caught red handed it removes those concerns and meets that very high bar.
