So is Baylor and Indiana. Except they lost every player to the portal or graduation.

No shot we are interested IMO. Needs a waiver, only one year left, we are very set at PG for next year already.

I think the whole Nico thing at UT is going to make new rules come about. The urgency will be higher now with him literally negotiating during their playoff run.

That's awesome. Baylor is a disgusting institution.

What rules could be implemented that you think the courts would allow?

I do think it's important to understand that however much you might hate this situation, the NCAA put itself here. When issues around player payment and movement started percolating around 2010 or so, the NCAA could have nipped them in the bud with a few small compromises. Give players one free transfer or even just a generous and predictable waiver system*. Let players pursue commercial and endorsement opportunities with strict regulations. Etc. That would have been met with total acceptance. Instead, the NCAA dug in its heels, insisted on defending root and branch a logically, morally and legally indefensible system and took its chances in court, where it repeatedly got its head beaten in by every lawyer with a clip-on tie. And now we're here.

*Remember how we used to get a handful of stories every year where some player with an incredibly sympathetic story would try to transfer, and the coach on his old team would refuse to grant him permission, and there would be a week's worth of bad publicity, and eventually his old team would inevitably cave?

I would allow every player one transfer without limitation. After that one, any other transfers would require sitting out a year, with a possible exception in the event of their coach getting fired. Then players and programs would both have to carefully think about who they select. Schools won't be so eager to pay a kid a million bucks to sit on the bench for a season.
There would also be exemptions to the rule, such as Duke being involved.

That’s basically what they tried to do when the Justin Fields type lawsuits started and they implemented the portal. Courts said no.

If anyone is interested, here are a couple of videos of the Baylor reporters trying to reflect upon their situation.

    Scott Drew "loses" lockerroom:

I’ve heard following courts is optional now. :ninja2:

For some, that’s always been the case. I would not recommend testing that theory out yourself though.

I hope Baylor does well in the portal - it’s not a good look for their program.

    It’s
It’s curious to understand why the players who didn’t play much entered the portal; the possibility exists they will no longer play college basketball at this level. It sure sounds like there is some issue that has not been reported yet.

That's not my understanding of the Justin Fields case. It was the NCAA that granted him a waiver due to mitigating circumstances.

If all the GOOD players on the team left, you'd think the leftovers would see the opportunity to start, and would stick around. Maybe ask for a little money.
This is such a weird case. Scott Drew was on the shortlist of every big program as a coaching candidate. I bet they're scratching him off the list now. Who'd hire a guy that loses his whole team?

Baylor has money. Maybe this was the plan. Sorta the whole sign a super team NBA style plan.

Good riddance. I hope he gets far away from the SEC. Dirty player, obnoxious as hell.
