Women have had a mediocre season headed into the SEC tourney. Third round of stroke play completed today and UF moved up from 9th after round 2 into 7th....which advances them to match play tomorrow vs 2 seed LSU So Car finished round 3 at 16 under, LSU 10 under, Texas 5 under, Ole Miss 1 under, Miss St 1 over, Arky 5 over, UF 6 over, Tenn 7 over. Historical strong teams like Bama (23 over/12th place), Vandy (40 over), and UGA (56 over) don't advance
Quick start for the women this morning Tuttle up 2 thru 5 Fransisco down 2 thru 4 Archer up 2 thru 3 Guiser up 1 thru 3 Klonowski up 1 thru 2 3 sophomores and 2 freshman.....VERY young roster. Most of the other contributors are also freshmen and sophs
Great front 9 for the ladies Tuttle up 3 thru 10 Fransisco all square thru 10 Archer up2 thru 9 Guiser up 3 thru 9 Klonowski up 2 thru 9 I'm sure LSU will make a run....but can't ask for much more so far
Hitting the turn in the semis vs Arky.....2-2-1 Tuttle all square thru 9 Francisco up 2 thru 9 Archer up 3 thru 8 Guiser down 3 thru 7 Klonowski down 2 thru 7
Tuttle had a lead but loses 2 straight holes and 1 down thru 15 Francisco 1 up thru 14 Archer 2 up thru 13 Guiser 2 down thru 13 Klonowski 1 down thru 12 Tight match, looks to go to the wire
Tuttle kind of fell apart in the stretch and loses Francisco has lost a nice lead and all square thru 17 Archer remains 2 up thru 16 Guiser 3 down thru 15....that will put Arky up 2-0 Klonowski has come back to all square thru 15
Francisco wins 18 and her match, Archer closes hers out.....2-2 now with Klonowski the only match remaining. The freshman has trailed almost the entire match, but now 1 up thru 16. Just halved 17, so 1 up with one to play
Gators get it done....advance to the finals vs So Carolina. Gamecocks have been hammering the field this week, they will be a tough matchup Coming in there were 9 SEC teams ranked ahead of UF, Arkansas is ranked #2, LSU #11....we beat them. Now #3 USC
Approaching the turn in finals....hanging tough vs USC, trail 3-2 but all tight matches Tuttle 1 up thru 9 Francisco 1 up thru 8 Archer 2 down thru 7 Guiser 1 down thru 7 Klonowski 1 down thru 7
Tuttle first to finish with a nice win...not so good elsewhere Francisco loses 2 holes and 1 down thru 15 Archer 3 down thru 14 Guiser 3 down thru 13 Klonowski all square thru 13 Need Francisco to rebound like she did yesterday....Archer and Gusier pretty much toast
Francisco wins the 16th to square her match Archer wins the 15th, but still 2 down with 3 to play Klonowski loses the 14th so she is now 1 down...that makes the road a lot harder
They are putting up a great fight regardless of how it shakes out. Hopefully a good harbinger for regionals and naitonals.
Guiser and Archer lose....Francisco has to win 18 to keep the match going And she wins 18 to stay alive...going to playoff hole And as I type Klonowski loses 17 and her match, so USC wins it. Great performance and valuable match play experience for NCAAs, went head to head with #2 and #3 ranked teams.....with nothing but freshmen and sophs. Shoud have lot of momentum for regionals
Men heading out for day 3, final day of stroke play Day 1 they were at 5 under in 5th place....decent round but well back of the top 3 teams and bunched up with about 6 teams Day 2 they ended in 6th place, one stroke behind UGA.....dropped further from the lead pack but also got a little room established between them and the 8th place cut line Early on day 3 and they start out hot.....6 under for the day, 12 under overall. Tied w UGA for 5th. Alabama is in 9th at 3 under, so they are 9 strokes above the cut line. LSU and Aub have been scorching, tied for lead at 28 under, TAMU at 23 under, Okla at 15 under. Looks like UF, UGA, Okla are locked for 4th-6th place barring a meltdown. So Car and Miss St are tied for 7th at 5 under
UF now 15 under, -9 for the round.....UF started on the back 9 so they still have the bulk of the front 9 to play One stroke behind Okla for 4th 3 strokes clear of UGA 12 strokes clear of the cut line so that's not a concern
LSU put up career round yesterday, to make it interesting today... Really hope Texas doesnt sneak into that 8 spot.. Not that I overly care about match play,, yeah I know its how you win the trophy,,but would rather save any match play luck(needed) for 3 weeks from now.
