that’s a bit of an ambush against @gator_jo . In the first post you made no mention the guy being a great neighbor. He was presented as “a trump guy” who sounded like an obnoxious big-mouth. ie basically ranting that millions who don’t agree (democrats) are trash and discussing let Trump do what he wants or “there will be consequences” - and talking like this at a party, where there are assuredly different opinions.

I think it works the other way actually. If you don’t walk lock step and disagree with him on every point you are supposed to disagree with him on, then you are a MAGA worshipper of the Orange God. Political fundamentalism is not exclusively owned by one side here.

Agree that Trump is doing what he wants. And I think some of it is going to cause the house to turn in 2026.

I could have discussed politics with him but decided against because he’s my sons neighbor who I met for the first time and it was my sons party. I’m not going to possibly ruin it.

I have some pretty good friends on both sides. I don’t let their politics ruin it. I decided a while back to let people speak. If they believe differently so what. If they ask me my opinion I’ll respond.

If you or anyone else wants to respond differently that’s your decision. This particular time wasn’t a good one.

I’m 72. I decided last year to just go with the flow and not get all worked up over politics. I’ve got pancreatic cancer (PNET) and lost my 45 year old daughter to drugs (fentanyl) in 2023. Both of those circumstances have mellowed me out. I now only have a son who I’ve decided to leave everything to, rather than spend it because I think this country is going to hell in a hand basket. The least I can do is set him up for the future best I can. My wife is on board with it. He’s a great kid who tells me and my wife on a regular basis that he loves us. Pretty cool coming from a 48 year old. The only reason I telling this is to maybe explain why I don’t engage peope “in person” in political discussions. Fwiw I don’t in religion either.

Letting the losers run the show as their opinions mean zero. Have fun complaining about the next 4-8-12 years. The Democratic Socialist Communist Party has to hit rock bottom before that rank-and-file democrats decide a one-party socialism and communism isn't a United States thing.

The plan of the socialist/communists when infiltrating was to wreck the Democratic Party to take over. They've done a great job of crushing/whipping normal democrats. These extremists don't care if the party hits rock bottom. That is their long-term goal. Whatever it takes to have complete control and power they will do.

 

This is such a solid perspective. I bet if more of us were like Homer, our country would have a lot less problems.

 

I wasn't criticizing you for not engaging the guy. I walk away from people like that too. There's no point to it. They live in a reality of their own making. They deal in lies, not truth.

Trump is doing a lot of things, but winning definitely isn’t one of them. Assuming they don’t make elections illegal in the future the GOP is fixing to get slaughtered in the midterms. Also, woketard or any word with tard in it being used should be a ban-able offense. Do better.
