Big mistake by BN not allowing game to be televised .Everyone outside of Gainesville can't be at the game thus eliminating thousands of Gators from enjoying the team play. Bad move Billy cutting out alums and fans and possible donations.
Practically every power4 school is doing it. At least we had a game to see in person. A lot of schools had glorified practices or not at all
I think they're trying to figure out how to deal with the portal and NIL. If another team sees someone they like, they can just offer them money.
Last year most SEC schools had their spring game on the SEC network. In fact, some games were shown on repeat throughout the summer. This year- nada, zip. Not one single spring game of any school- last I checked anyway. (I haven't checked in a week or so.) So it's not just Billy- it's all SEC schools. Maybe he's not so stupid after all??
Bet when the spring portal period for entering the portal ends, the spring games will suddenly appear. There is a fear that if you see a talented player in a spring game and make a big offer (through intermediaries of course) that a team could “steal” a player from a school. Is it paranoia? Maybe but maybe not.
