China appears to want to specialize in artificial intelligence, while Trump is satisfied to specialize in artificial stupidity.

CT scanning: a major source of radiation exposure - PubMed
CT scanning is a relatively high dose procedure that is becoming much more common worldwide. In the mid-1990s, CT scanning accounted for about 4% of procedures and about 40% of the collective dose in diagnostic radiology. With the advent of helical, fluoroscopic, and multi-slice techniques the dose per procedure has not diminished and the use of CT has increased even more. In large hospitals, CT scanning now accounts for about 15% of procedures and 75% of the diagnostic radiation dose received by patients. When multiple CT scans are conducted on the same patient, the absorbed doses are in the range at which small but statistically significant increases in cancer have been found in the atomic bomb survivors.

The concern is absolutely valid. The problem isn't so much with CT scans in of themselves but the overuse of the scans especially when there are other types of imagining that can be used to provide similar or even more accurate results.

 

Mammograms and colonoscopy may also be more trouble than they’re worth.

Larger issue: pre-screening may find ‘things’ to treat that don’t need to be treated.

 

I had a colonoscopy a little over a month ago. Although not especially pleasant (the prep not the procedure) it was worth it considering the possible alternative given that colon cancer took the life of my mother.

 

And that is understandable, given family history. The problem is that the US is one of only a handful of countries that recommends colonoscopies regardless family history and symptoms.

 

I’m not a conspiracy theorist and chalk most of this stuff to sheer stupidity, but if someone wanted to really cripple our country from inside out it would be hard to do a better job than what is being done now.

 

Remember muscle is about 17.8% denser than fat. So a muscular guy would look skinnier than a guy with more body fat if they had the same bone structure and weight. I think Trump has been shrinking. Probably closer to 6'-1" than 6'-3". Trump carries himself in a way that makes him look taller than he is. He has long legs which adds to the illusion of height when he walks. imo. If you watch him golf you can see his hands/forearms/wrists look pretty strong. He has a powerful forehand on the tennis court. I don't think he plays much tennis anymore but he can smash it for a 78 yo

 

At last check most American men aren’t making it to 78. In other news: the average American man goes 5-9 200.
