Governor Shapiro's home and family were the target of what will likely be a deranged lunatic who broke in and set fire to his house. Very odd story but likely to surprise no one.

Man arrested after arson fire at Governor Josh Shapiro mansion in Pennsylvania | AP News

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — A man scaled an iron security fence in the middle of the night, eluded police and broke into the Pennsylvania governor’s mansion where he set a fire that left significant damage and forced Gov. Josh Shapiro, his family and guests to evacuate the building, authorities said Sunday.

The man, captured later in the day, will face charges of attempted murder, terrorism, aggravated arson and aggravated assault, authorities said.

Shapiro said he, his wife, their four children, two dogs and another family had celebrated the Jewish holiday of Passover at the residence on Saturday and were awakened by state troopers pounding on their doors at about 2 a.m. Sunday. They fled and firefighters extinguished the fire, officials said. No one was injured.

“We don’t know the person’s specific motive yet,” Shapiro told the news conference. “But we do know a few truths. First: This type of violence is not OK. This kind of violence is becoming far too common in our society. And I don’t give a damn if it’s coming from one particular side or the other, directed at one particular party or another or one particular person or another. It is not OK, and it has to stop. We have to be better than this.”

I had a few fire bombs thrown through windows that I investigated when I worked as a fire investigator.

I charged the bad guy for attempted murder, times the amount of people who were in the house, and one count of 1st degree arson.

I left it up to the SAO whether all the charges would go forward.

It seems to me between the Trump attempts, Pelosi and this, security is aimed more towards Day of the Jackal types, and doesnt account for deranged dumb assess who are simply winging it. Which is ironic, since most of the successful assassins in history have been dumb asses just kinda winging it. Its hard to anticipate stupid if you cant think like a stupid. (Same reason you cant debate prep for Trump)

if you are willing to go down with the target, i don't think anyone that ever goes out in public or between two spots is untouchable.

The Pelosi and Shapiro attackers didnt seem suicidal to me. Perhaps they have little to lose, but its not quite the same thing.

I worked for Tampa FD as an “on duty” investigator. 24 hours on and 48 hours off. I investigated all fires that the captain at the scene couldn’t figure out, all suspicious and incendiary fires, and any where someone was burned from minor to serious including fire deaths. I taught at the fire and police academies. I was declared an expert in court in Fire origin and cause. My times as an inspector/investigator spanned 22.5 years. We all were certified by the state of Florida. Since I left our fire investigators work out of the Tampa police headquarters and are required to be police certified. I worked for TPD in 77 and 78. Transferred to fire in 78. I worked for the HCSO in 1992 as a regular reserve deputy which gave me dual certification. Cool career but rather stressful. Hardly ever got any rest at night as that’s when the bad guys burn stuff.

    Damn proud of my career.

    There ya go.

Could be teak, brazillian redwood, maybe cedar, they have some fire proof characteristics naturally.
