I think I'd be mostly annoyed if a president or high-level politician came to my business, its probably a disruptive headache for everyone involved. I think Obama has the pull to have a firehouse sub sent to him lol. Shit, anyone with Ubereats/Doordash does.

    repealing student visas daily

targeting opposition to stifle free speech among the front liners. next us citizens will lose jobs because the government doesn't want to give contracts to a company that would employ someone with such a subversive attitude. This is Hoover part 2. This is 5 at one college, that found out on a Friday afternoon when they ran check themselves. This is happening across the country. To good people. Lives nd lifelong goals beign shattered because of expired drivers license, facebook posts supporting palestenian people being slaughtered...This isn't reflective of the american values I was taught.

Big deal. Have you Trump supporters been in thrall for so long to a vile criminal who uses the federal government as a political play-toy to be weaponized against adversaries and political opponents (see natural disasters in CA) ......

....... that you think hypothetically shaking the hand of a political opponent deserves praise?

That's like a human wanting props for not defecating in the living room.

You guys need to work on not supporting the criminal actions of a criminal. Get back to us after that.

I agree. I am no fan of this President, but I would not turn down an invitation from the White House and give the office the respect it deserves, perhaps even more respect than its current occupant does.

To be fair, the law does not require him to serve the former President "happily" or to "shake his hand," which he said he would do.

It should be said that whenever people get invited to the WH for public consumption (whether its athletes, artists, or other celebrities) , its not to honor the invitee, its a chance for power to glorify itself by associating with something respectable, things people actually like. I wish more people would view it that way. If the office was truly respectable, it wouldn't need to associate itself with respectable achievements like winning at sports. I have more respect for people who would turn down any invite or award from people who want to bask in others achievement, than people who would show up anywhere, to receive anything from anyone because its some kind of "honor." More principle involved with the former, IMO. You or I arent getting invited to the WH unless we can do something for them ... that's how it works!

how it worked when I had another non president national politician who was out campaigning- their advance team came in and asked if they could come and bring the politician and his entourage(just under 50 people)to eat around 3pm on a Friday- he was a democrat but I obviously said yes they could come - they came in around 345 and followed our process of ordering- the next to the last guy in line was the politician and he thanked me for making my sub shop available and I told him he was welcome. Once everyone had ordered and they had gotten their chips and drinks they were all seated and in conversation. We got the subs out to them as quickly as possible and they seemed to enjoy their food. Around 430 the man who set it up asked me if I could come out to the table, so I did. The politician again thanked me and shook my hand. The gentleman who set it up said I was actually the 4th place he came to as the first 3 all declined. He asked me if I was a Dem and I told him I was a registered indy, but a conservative Christian. He asked me why I agreed to serve them and I was honest with him. I also had a reporter from the local newspaper ask to speak with me after the entourage left, and I told her, it was a business decision and had nothing to do with politics. I would have done the same for any politician. My answer did not make the newspaper, which made me laugh.

the law does not require me to serve them - as long as my refusal is not because of something discriminatory I am allowed to refuse to serve politicians - but business is business and why turn away business

Your actions in this^ situation reflect that you are a polite man, who does not, at least in public discourse, vilify those with different political views.

So why you are so enthralled by a criminal, who at every possible opportunity publicly does the exact opposite, is baffling.

Further, the most appropriate way to treat someone a sexual assaulting criminal who publicly divides, lies, tells racist lies and uses abuses our government illegally and vindictively, is to politely refuse to tolerate or associate with that person in any way, shape or form.

If you cannot, or refuse to, see the differences between the politician in your example and the un-American criminal Trump, then that is both thoroughly baffling and ..... your choice.

It describes a self righteous arrogant group reinforcing and validating their narrow views. You can take it as something else if you wish. I think it defines what this forum has sadly become. I wish that were not the case. But this forum really has deteriorated greatly over the years.

    Obama is stealing my stuff

it isn't policies, it is the threat to our rule of law and constitutional order

Barack Obama Breaks Silence: Calls on Bush and Clinton to Confront Trump’s Threat to Democracy

In his Hamilton College speech, Obama drew a line between disagreeing with the current president on matters of policy, such as tariffs, and standing silent while he tries to intimidate universities, law firms and judges. He called on universities to stand up to the president’s intimidation. “If you are a university, you may have to figure out, are we in fact doing things right? Have we in fact violated our own values, our own code, violated the law in some fashion?” he said. “If not, and you’re just being intimidated, well, you should be able to say, that’s why we got this big endowment.”

I wonder if there's any self-righteous arrogance in declaring that everyone else is self-righteously arrogant ... but you're not?

Take it as something else? It is literally a term for a circle of men giving each other handys.

    How is that not vulgar?
