I was entertained by the boos that came from the crowd yesterday when he was introduced. He seems to have hit a homerun with Golden. Remember he also hired Mike White. His hires so far other than Golden have been lackluster. Naiper may yet turn it around but we will see. Kinda feels like Zook where the recruiting is good but the product on the field is just not there so far. If Lagway is healthy then he has a chance to retain his job. If Lagway gets hurt then .... I also don't like Strictlin's lack of effort in the women's basketball scandal. He knew something was going on and did nothing. Silence isn't a choice when your the AD. That is failed leadership. I'd like to see him replaced.
The only thing I really judged him for was the handling of the women’s basketball situation. Even if Napier doesn’t pan-out, a lot of other AD’s wanted him too. And UF historically hasn’t pursued established coaches that demand top dollar. Golden has proven to be a home run hire. Still believe Napier will prove to be a good one too.
it was old footage from when they won the national championship. If you haven't seen it, you should watch it
I have watched that footage plenty with Noah dancing while the band is playing the fight song and then thowing his towel in the air.... love it!!! Thought you were referring to a recent appearance. Horf got to go to the final thanks to his (Celtics) coach insisting on it!
Increased student ticket prices again. Up to $250. Definitely not making friends there. Frankly, not sure students should have to pay at all since they pay an athletic fee as part of their tuition (and then the UAA says students get in "free" to all other sports). Think this will push the student contribution to the UAA somewhere north of $8M between football tickets and fees. With all other sources of revenue increasing, is this really necessary?
The jury is still out on Napier, but, I am cautiously optimistic in the trajectory of him and the football program. Overall, I can say one thing for sure: you can't take away a BB Natty. So, yes, Stricklin's seat got a little cooler. It was getting pretty toasty there for a minute.
Not bickering or disagreeing but if Stricklin and the powers above him don't want to make a change they will not. If our defense and special teams play really well and end of season they can decide that all BN needs is a QB, and that it's not his fault he didn't have one, so it goes. They may love them some BN, whereas, I doubt they loved Will Muschamp or McElwain. I don't believe we need a QB that can sling 40 yards, although if some of those completions aren't there or QB unable, it makes defending us easier. But our run game could be phenomenal(could be) and enough 10-20 yard completions with YAC could be a good offense. Presuming Lagway is unable to play full force, Defense and Special Teams are key. Knowing where we are, if BN is near the detailed and meticulous planner as alleged, those two aspects have to be better than expected, and should be with or without DJ.
I know it wasn't an easy decision and he was respected on some levels. But it was clear he had his faults, mostly in demeanor, but a sharp AD would have also been concerned with his recruiting on offense. Napier has a demeanor that imo, the uppers adore. Nothing wrong with that, and I believe that would weigh on the decision we all hope they do not need to make. I forgot Muschamp did have one stellar season. But man, how do you excuse an 11-2 then a 4-8. Florida Gators College Football History, Stats, Records | College Football at Sports-Reference.com
