From what I have read this is not a discussion. More like a leftist circle jerk.

Hopefully some of the fellas reject the invite. Would love to see the MAGA “Respect Muh President!” zealots melt down and insult them, thus showing us how they really feel about those players LOL

Even those whose countrymen have had their visas revoked? How would you feel if your fellow refugees were being deported to some country other than their own through no fault of their own?

This. When it comes to higher education, Trump has very explicitly stood for; stifling free speech, making it more difficult for less affluent to attend, and more difficult for people of color to attend.

It's difficult to think of any reasons why any members of our basketball team society would be seen with that racist, and by being there lend him their implied support.

Free world and all, but still shocking when people join Trump in his cess pool.

With all due respect scr*w you. People like you are a far bigger problem in this country than Trump. It's people like you who make everything political.

I truly hated Obama for his policies during his Presidency. And no, it's not racial. Let me be clear, Obama could have been the whitest President in history with 100% European lineage going back 10 generations, and I still would've hated him just for his policies. The thing that makes my hatred for him more though, is that he had a unique chance in history to be more than just a President. He had a chance to be another Washington. Another Lincoln. Obama had the opportunity to really push America into a post racial age. If America was so racist, Obama never even sniffs the Presidency. But no, Obama had to make everything about race. If you ever disagreed with him, it was because you were racist, not because you just flat out disagreed with the policy. You were never allowed to challenge Obama. And to me Obama threw away a true chance to have America finally move beyond race.

I truly hate Obama and Biden (mostly Obama). And I wouldn't consider meeting Obama or Biden to be an honor either. But I also played sports. And if I had won a National Championship in college sports, I would have swallowed my pride and my politics for one day. It honestly isn't much to ask them to swallow their pride and politics for one day. For an opportunity most of us will only dream of. Worse case, maybe set it up to where the players can visit the White House as a respect to the office itself, and let those who don't want a picture with President Trump himself to opt out of the photo. But show respect to the office itself.

Honestly, if I'm Trump, if any player (not just for UF Basketball, just sports in general) makes it political and opts out. I'm fully okay with that player then being banned from the White House the rest of their lives (outside of any official duty if they ever had one). Let them realize that they wasted an incredible opportunity, just because they couldn't put their pride and politics aside for one day. There is no constitutional right to visit the White House. You want to make it politics, then you shouldn't get to visit the White House when your guy is in office. I love the team, but if I'm Trump I ban any UF basketball player who refuses to at least visit the White House from ever visiting the White House again.

Yeah, then don't cry when conservative college athletes do the same in the future to a Democrat President. You realize two can play that game right? How would you like it if Tim Tebow, clearly religious and conservative, had refused to go see Obama when the 2008 National Champion Gator football team went to the White House?

People like you will do more to lead to the break up of the United States than President Trump could ever dream of accomplishing. That's the problem with people like you, you see politics in everything. I hated Obama and him wasting the historic opportunity he was given, and making everything during his Presidency racial. But I still would've gone to the White House if invited.

Set up a two part situation. First part would just be a visit to the White House, maybe meeting some White House staff and Rubio. Second part would then be to meet Trump and have the picture taken. Let any player who doesn't feel comfortable around Trump leave after the first part. But these players need to remember, they aren't just representing themselves. They are representing the University of Florida and all of Gator Nation.

They need to remember that many of those fans who cheer them on, we have very different viewpoints than they do. I'm sure I would absolutely despise some of their political viewpoints. Yet as fans and supporters of the University, we put the politics aside to cheer for them. I really don't think it's much to ask for them to swallow the pride and politics for a single day, especially if they set it up to where they wouldn't even have to meet President Trump.

Honestly, if I was Trump, I ban any player who doesn't at least make the trip from ever stepping foot in the White House again. I also think this is where NIL contracts are needed. Besides making players stay at least 2 years, put in stipulations where if they fail to represent the university properly in situations like this, they lose some of their NIL money. Make them have a financial penalty as well. Again, they are representing the university, not just themselves. You don't like President Trump, get over it and s*ck it up for a day.

Yeah, now I definitely hope a bunch of Gator players take a pass on this bogus White House trip and rebuff the charlatan-in-chief. Seeing you Trumpettes upset makes it worth it LOL

On the flip side I could see ICE targeting him for boycotting the visit.

Seems like some of the Trumpettes in here want to stifle free speech for people of color too, they’re saying any player who refuses to go should be banned from the White House for life. The thought of players exercising their freedom and wanting nothing to do with this charlatan has them agitated lol

And then I hope you enjoy it when a significant amount of NIL money dries up because of it and then we lose Golden and go back to the Mike White era. I could care less what the players do, it's their loss, not mine. But just remember, a lot of Gator Alumni, myself included, voted for Trump. And lot of those alumni and other big boosters who contribute a lot of money to Gator Athletics are also Republican and voted for Trump. Probably not good to make people mad who are the reason you are paid to play a game.
