Enough of the back-and-forth. People have made their positions clear. This is the forum we discuss basketball, remember?
Walter Clayton was on Good Morning America! This TEAM deserves to go to the White House and be applauded. I am happy for the players, coaches and myself. Myself since I get to watch it. What a year!!
I was invited to the White House when I had nothing good to say about its resident at the time. I went, and then I had one good thing to say.
I hope they go if they want to go because they deserve to go if they’d like to. There is nothing else to say aside from that if you actually care about an individual’s opinion. You are dancing around it with your own bias.
bigi, the questions was will they visit in the OP. You replied you hope not. The question was not should they be forced to go, do we all think they should go, etc. It was you that literally said you did not want to get political and then you did. Not one single person said that anyone should go against their will or be judged if they chose not to go. You just plain made that up to defend what you said. Is that explanation enough of my ratings?
I didn't spend an entire season living and dying with this team to diss them for getting dressed up and flying a thousand miles to get a quarter pounder with cheese.
This is a political thread. It shouldn’t have been posted on this particular message board to begin with.
This is not a political thread but a couple have tried to make it one. Their posts are gone. Most have not engaged in that.
I have been a conservative since I voted for Ronald Reagan in 1980. Sometime between 1993-95, when my office was in the Florida Capitol, President Clinton came to address the Florida Legislature. I stood in line in the rotunda to get a glimpse of the current president. I did not vote for him twice but it was a cool thing. The same is why all support staff, athletic department staff and players/coaches should attend the traditional White House meet and greet for National Champions! They deserve it.
Agree. Off topic. We try to contact à senator we knew years ago to get us tickets to the white house. He told us that it will be ready for us to pick up. When we got there, they told us they didn’t have the tickets for us to get in the WH. They gave us tickets to the Capitol with guided tour instead. I took what they offered. My family and I enjoyed the tour of the Capitol. Well, except the part when we watched the filibuster for 20 mins. Lol. I think the Bb team should go and visit the WH.
We are perfectly capable of accepting an invitation, showing up, posing for pictures, and being grateful for said invitation, without making anything political.
All I’m saying is my Dodgers went and it was cool. I enjoyed watching them and they enjoyed it. They did lose their first two games of the season after the visit though.
One of my fun memories of my time living in CA and working for the Dodgers was presenting UF President John Lombardi with a personalized Dodgers jacket during one of his LA visits.
