This needs more context. Brown popped up to the infield behind the mound. For some reason, all 4 Miss infielders went to the ball - creating confusion among themselves and letting an easy out drop. In the meantime, Brown slowly jogged to 1st with her head buried. Had she run it out and been paying the slightest bit of attention, she would have made it to undefended 2nd base standing up. CTW immediately pulled her, and I suspect Ava is officially deep in his doghouse.
Coach Walton has email. Why don't you let him know what he should have done? I'm sure he'll appreciate it.
That one was ugly enough I think she took her frustration from the play when Holtorf called for her to cut to the batter box with her.
That was an offensive move. Holtorf hasn’t been bad at the plate as f late. She was left in so she wouldn’t be burnt. Paid off with her getting on in the 7th in that sense. Just her defense there in the sixth is the reason we couldn’t claw all the way back out. Not all on her, but had Comia stayed in I think it could’ve been a different story. Understand the reasoning behind it though.
I think overall an improvement from last weekend, we can't become a miracle team over one weekend. Next weekend, Alabama. I do wish we had a midweek to let Keagan work out some of the kinks, but maybe no midweek can allow her more time to work in the bullpen. I just realized, that we play Thu-Sat, so midweek would not be ideal now lol. I imagine we will have some fire lit under the women this weekend with the rivalry series with Bama. Ava has for sure been pitching like our ace, Red is doing a solid job, and Keagan is still a work in progress. I have full faith that she will continue to improve and we will see success later on.
One thing I loved this weekend, was the bounce back offensively after we gave up leads early. That did not exist during the Arkansas series and FSU/UCF games.
Agree that Ava dogged the play just assuming that the ball would be caught. That said, there's no way Ava makes it to 2B. She and Falby are from different time zones. While she may very well be in CTW doghouse, I'd say that CTW immediately pulling her is unrelated. He always pulls her when she's on base in an important moment. It is a fact, not a criticism, that Ava's base path speed is not her strong suit.
I disagree because: when Ava's spot in the order came up to bat two innings later, Shaw batted. CTW didn't re-enter her into the game. I think he was (and, is) sending her a message.
