This is a great analysis. And we still didn’t play a “complete game”.

After running through the SECT, we decided to see how many points we could spot teams and how late in the game we could leave it and still come back - just to give us an extra challenge. Unfortunately we fans were not notified of this strategy.

Toughest SEC ever. Toughest SEC tournament ever. Toughest Final Four ever. Toughest region in NCAAT. Toughest road to a championship.

Just another aspect of this run that made it so unexpected and so much fun.

All four teams in the Final Four had a really hard path to the championship.

Yes the Sweet 16 and Elite 8 were essnetially the top 16 and top 8 in KenPom. Can’t remember the last NCAAT where there were virtually no major upsets. St John’s was a 2 seed but weren’t a top 10 team

If St Johns had beaten TT we would have faced the following seeds as a #1:

    16 (Norfolk)
    8 (UConn)
    4 (Maryland)
    2 (St. Johns)
    1 (Auburn)
    1 (Houston)

Perhaps the committee got it wrong with Texas Tech’s seeding.

    Whatever. National Champs, baby!!!

Houston's would technically have been harder (at least for the Tournament), but perhaps it was too hard. ;)

    Yep, TTU is #9, St John’s #14
If any year showed how much more accurate KenPom is than the committee and whatever voodoo criteria they use, this was that year. Time to do away with the committee, and human refs while they’re at it :)

Doesn’t the committee HAVE to toy with the seeding a little bit due to rules of teams in the same conference playing eachother too soon or something like that?

First time i’ve heard that but who knows, their criteria seems rather opaque overall. They should just adopt one ranking system and make it open and transparent, so teams and fans can track it - through the conference playoffs.

They will move a team one seed up or one seed down to balance a conference position, balance geography, minimize travel <joke>or help Duke</joke>.

I believe the concept is known as the "Hare Philosophy". And to those who recall the Aesop's tale, it is plainly NOT about the hazard of not using your skills to the fullest or else you may lose to someone even as slow a tortoise. It is all about not worrying what others can do, as long as you can keep your head down and make dogged progress, you WILL succeed.

Thank goodness we only played a turtle once. We may have lost if we had played another one...

It is obvious that there is some "artistic license" in the seeding/regions selection. Does anyone seriously think that the St John's - Arkansas game was merely a coincidence?
