Most people are now saying with the extra juice the SEC has with Texas & Oklahoma being added, 12 wins will get us in, especially considering our SOS. But to be safe, 13 would solidify it for sure. And with the 5 teams we have left on our schedule it's going to be tough to find 8 or 9 wins. At least possible now that we've crawled up to 4-11.

Not saying you are wrong, but this is mid-level SEC type criticism, we are not there yet. Baby steps!

IF we win our non conference games that's 27 wins.....one win in each of the remaining 5 SEC series puts us at 32 wins before the SEC tourney. Got in with 28 last year in a weaker conference.
9 SEC wins is scary, but the conference is going to get a bunch of teams in. I would be shocked if 12 conference wins wasn't enough. All this of course not counting SEC tourney impact

But there is talent....it's just underperforming. That's my issue

Solid pitching in both games today. Nice change. Keep hope alive. :)

Mizzou is bad, but have to wonder how the season would be going if we started the season hosting Mizzou like LSU. Most likely a sweep and some early confidence instead of playing on the road vs the defending NC Vols. Oh well.

That analysis seems exactly right to me, but I think many people are underestimating the impact of expansion. Last May, it was mentioned many times on this board that both Tx and Ok made the NCAA field. Some of those comments added the somewhat obvious follow-up question: In future years, will Tx and Ok getting into NCAA postseason be in addition to the past SEC numbers? Or will baseball follow hoops and include as many at-large SEC teams as deserve to be ranked above potential at-large teams?

Everything I say is with appropriate respect for NCAA consitency regarding postseason picks or any other important matter. However, the recent swarm of SEC basketball teams that made the postseason proved on the court that including 14 of 16 SEC teams made for a more competitive and entertaining tournament. A blindly optimistic Gator reasonably can see this as an opening. Can we start by saying the ten SEC teams in the D1Bsb ranking top 19 teams will be invited, eight or more should host regionals? The more important matter is that SEC baseball might deserve 12-14 teams, which means the Gators' chances have a heartbeat.

My old Gator daddy was a big fan of Walter Mayberry when he played and ever after. He was a Gator lover in the sad days of the '30s and '40s into real hope from Ray Graves' years onward. One wonderful Gator lesson I learned from him was: Never feel bad about the Gators losing a game before they ACTUALLY lose it. That rule kept me completely calm when the Gators trailed Houston and in many other difficult games. It even got me through the Muschamp years

Pretty solid pitching this weekend allowing just 4 total runs in the three game series.

Ive never understood why sec softball & now apparently basketball gets in any team elligible basically(+.500 overall),, but not baseball who has waaay more post season success historically than those other 2 combined.

This number will improve now w/ Tex & OU,, but sec softball is 'batting' well under 40% in the post season best of 3 series(Supers & cws finals) vs non sec, since this format started

I was at the game and there was some kind of confusion at the end of the game. I thought that it would be over if the runner from third touched home and the batter touched first (green side). Does one of the runners starting at first or second need to advance so that there can't be a force at third and a force at second for a double play? I am not totally up on all the rules for game ending situations.

I would certainly think that any force plays would need to be dealt with. Two force outs would negate the run. We saw the conversation after, and the announcers questioned it, but there was never an explanation. Kinda seemed like they weren’t challenging it and the umps said screw it, lets go home.

I’ll be very happy to get to 12 wins. Gotta win at least 1-2 Sec Tourney games too.

King is a Dude. 4-1 2.68 ERA. SEC not scaring him. He, Heyman and 1-2 others have shown it counts when league play starts. Hoping Liam has a great outing this week. we have had lots of injuries and things like that but if our number one Friday night guy pictures like he’s capable, we are still a very, very tough team

Seems that if neither the runner originally on first nor the runner originally on second advanced and touched base they can be ruled out by first an appeal at third base and then an appeal at second base. The order is important to keep the "force" in play.

In the confusion I am not sure what actually happened.

If I recall correctly, in post-game (radio), it was suggested that Shelton did not touch 2nd, but since it was just him, it didn't matter.
