I just happened to glance at ESPN's "way too early" rankings for 2025-26. Would expect for the #1 national championship coach and the prospect of studs like Condon/Haugh/Aberdeen coming back to at least get some cred. Also understand that losing our 3 senior guards (guards win in March/April) would likely create a step back. But I started scrolling through the teams and kept scrolling and kept scrolling . . . until the mighty Gators were finally represented. Golden oughta post this BS in the training facility NOW. Men's Way-Too-Early Top 25: Where does 2025 champion Florida fall in the rankings?
It appears they have Condon going in the draft, so maybe if that happens I could see the ranking. Otherwise, this is pretty good bulletin board material.
Lol less than a week from winning the title, and we’re already discussing bulletin board material. Love it
Losing the best back court in the country is going to stir doubts. It’s a huge loss… just is. And even though Todd crushed it in 3 years I just think he’s going to have to build up more equity to convince the media goobers that we are a perennial elite 8 challenger. I have no problem with #19. Just prove it.
Agreed. 19 isn’t crazy. The Athletic predicted Florida at #2, which seems at least as extreme in the other direction. I’m guessing next years team keeps Condon, grabs a quality guard from the portal, and competes for an elite 8. However, none of that happening and finishing the year at #19 wouldn’t be shocking. That would be borderline sweet 16 material.
Saw that too. It's funny to watch those CBS/SEC podsies picked against the gators from the second round to the final game. They even talked about how CTG was yelling at them to keep picking against UF during their podcast. It was hilarious. I would have done the same thing if I was CTG, except I will mention it during post game pressers to those knuckleheads. Lol
19. Florida Gators How will the Gators follow an incredible season? It could depend on how Todd Golden rebuilds the perimeter. Walter Clayton Jr. is obviously the major departure, but Will Richard and Alijah Martin are also out the door. And what about Alex Condon? He's a borderline first-round draft pick and could test the waters. Thomas Haugh is a breakout candidate next season, and Rueben Chinyelu is also back down low. Expect a much different projected lineup in the next update of these rankings. Projected starting lineup Denzel Aberdeen (7.9 PPG) Urban Klavzar (3.2 PPG) Cornelius Ingram Jr. (No. 26 in ESPN 100) Thomas Haugh (9.8 PPG) Rueben Chinyelu (6.1 PPG)
