Saban retired because he lost his advantage being one of the select few who could get away with paying players
Not the beginning but a glaring symptom that will become the norm in college athletics. A player holding out of spring practice for more money? I honestly can’t freaking believe it. NIL is absolutely ruining the game I love. I can only hope TN has some balls and makes sure this kid rides the pine until the blisters pop, or he quits. Enough is enough.
Poison. Cut him loose. Better yet, hang onto him, pay him his inflated “NIL”, and watch the voles unravel in the locker room
Tennessee is moving on from him. I don’t say this often, but good for them. I’m glad they didn’t cave to any of his BS demands. NIL/portal blows. These kids are so entitled and spoiled it’s mind blowing. Now if you’ll excuse me I’ll be in the front yard yelling at the youth to get off my lawn.
If he got 8 mil for three years and he isnt happy, cut him loose. If he were a top 5 heisman candidate , im sure he could demand more but he hasnt shown to be that guy.
In all seriousness, good on UT. He was getting a healthy deal, hadn't over performed it, and hopefully his greed sends a signal to other players not to try and hold teams hostage like this.
That only works if he has to take a bicycle deal somewhere else to play. If he gets a fat contract somewhere else, then it will just send the signal of "get yours", whatever the cost to your "team."
True. It only takes one desperate school/collective to potentially give him what he wants. I'm sure he'll land on his feet somewhere, but what school will fork over 3-4 million for him to be their QB this fall without going through spring ball there?
