May not necessarily have been him personally but it would have originated with someone within his administration with knowledge of the upcoming announcement. We need an investigation to figure out the truth.

Edit: I should have added that it doesn't even mean that Trump had any knowledge of what happened if there was insider trading happening.

 

Well it wouldn't be rational to think that options volume quadrupled because of people who didn't know about the TV show host's tariff surrender ....

1. Leaks a day early 10:13 am on Monday that there is a pause
2. Trump denies it publicly
3. Insiders position their calls before
4. Announcement comes out and public covers their calls

It's possible someone took a gamble based on that info. It's also possible Trump posted that as air cover for his buddies for plausible deniability. This isn't exactly the most ethical administration so hard to rule anything out.
