Ok, I went back and read the thread. First, I miss @thatguy. He was a great poster here who used to be Mulegator, until some knucklehead who constantly (and still does to this day) misbehaved caused a run in with mule and got him banned. To this thread, there are actually a whole lotta good, grounded, optimistic posts and those should be celebrated . . . but what's the fun in that? Here come some of the more golden takes: Here's a good one from a Gonzaga fan:
Sorry if this has already been posted: Yeah, Todd turned out better than what I expected and I am glad we got a NC and all but... I do believe that if we had given Mike White at least one more year, he would have won two championships instead of Todd's stinking single championship. Now I realize Mike's championships may not have been the "National" variety and all (somewhere Butch Jones is fist pumping!) but still, did we have to give up on him so fast? All he really needed was Egbunu to get healed, and I understand he WAS prepared to get back on the court in January, and then we were all set. Him and an elite talent like Kugel was all he needed to succeed. Honest...
Not once did he sign a 6-star player...or a youthful looking NBA veteran. What the heck do you think is the answer to your question???
What a read. Won’t fault people for overreactions, but you can clearly see which posters knew exactly what we were getting and called it perfectly.
I am big on accountability for words and actions. I would be hopeful that, in reading these early opinions, we would appreciate the trouble brought by holding opinions about people too soon and too strong. Opinions and contributions to a topic are why we are here, but to believe our view is the only one, esp. IRT humans, who will always surprise and disappoint is the road to perdition.
