senior guards are the key to post season success. It’s the cost of doing business if you want to win.
I agree about both statements of yours. However, the inference, that darn inference, just cropping up and fooling me.
True, but we already have a senior in Aberdeen. In an ideal world, you would like two years with some of these kids. Hopefully we can get a younger point guard in the pipeline.
Aberdeen will be one of our starting guards next year. Klavzar, Brown and our 2 incoming freshmen will have an opportunity to earn the other 2 slots, although if Condon comes back I think Haugh gets the start at the 3 slot. I think some or most of our other guards will hit the portal. Todd Golden has a lot of credibility now and if the NIL money is there can pick up high quality guards to add to the mix. But replacing the trio of Clayton, Rihcard & Martin is an impossible task. Those 3 were very, very special as a trio. Next year's team will have a differnet personality, but we still should be very good.
I know I am going to sound...Gator fan-like...but he sort of reminds me of a combination of Clayton and Pullin. He isn't as quick as Clayton but he has his shooting touch, at least in the highlights. He is taller like Pullin and seems inclined to engage his players but not as well as Pullin. A VERY intriguing prospect. I do hope he is as intelligent, as it relates to furthering a career in basketball, as he is in getting into Princeton. If he wanted to "go there" then he would go to either Duke or Kansas. Um, what exactly have those programs done with their talent? If he wants to go pro now then go pro now. Obviously, he needs to add some strength/bulk.
If I may opine, old habits are hard to break, especially in those Gator fans who live by what the "experts" think. It is what it is.
Even if we "replace" them in rankings/skill, if they are one-year stopgap players then the chances of them jelling in time to repeat is pretty slim, although not impossible. Martin was a magical piece but Clayton and Richard were there for multiple years, Richard especially.
True, but the game has changed. NIL rules the landscape. No more feigned praise of a Duke or Kansas or Kentucky. To me, the biggest WTH player was Wiggins and Kansas. Talk about a silly concept for buying...what exactly? And yeah, Billy is in the NBA because of the previous nonsense. Our biggest WTH was I believe Brandon Knight. He had the team built, he just needed that last piece, a la Syracuse and Carmelo and he "magically" went to Kentucky. And that was all she wrote for Billy and the mess known as major college basketball.
Micah got exposed with the way the team played in the tourneys. He needs to be WAY bulkier and bring more attitude. I do believe he understands this also. Can we actually do it, or will genetics get in the way? We shall see. And Alexis is a similar player, needs remediation in strength. I still think Golden is going to practice/tinker with a 2-3 defense this spring/summer. A front court of Condon/Micah/Rioux with that defense? WOW!!!
When you make an assumption, you make an ass out of both you and me. But if you are ambiguous, you can use both your left and right hands to make an ass out of your own self. It is really that simple. Now we are into some serious nuances. Simply, inference is when a player or in this instance a poster gets ahead of the action and prevents it from going forward in an effective manner. It usually happens in the more hick regions of West Virginia and Georgia or even the west Florida panhandle. Us more refined posters slow our expressed ideas down, and enunciate properly as to assure we are not making an ass out of each other or even making an ass out of ourselves using either hand. And if we have the urge to take a shortcut and using "in-" instead of "inter-", we usually keep it to ourselves. Otherwise, we would look like we are posting a bunch of silliness. And if there is anything us sophisticated posters on GC forums HATE is posters who post silly things. We have many more important tasks to do in our busy lives. Honest...
Micah and Alexis are not similar players. Micah is a true post guy. Will never be a great scorer, but will do his damage on the boards, particularly on the offensive end and will set some mean picks. I see Haugh moving to the "3" to replace Richard, with Alexis moving into Haugh's role as a more offensive minded post player. He showed some ability to hit from the outside, so I wouldn't be surprised if he slims down rather than bulks up.
The proper applications of the rules of grammar, punctuation, spacing, etc., are also grounds to either agree or disagree on any observation. The ill-disciplined application of 'words' even in support of the obvious weakens all of us.
Does the do not contact tag work like the do not call list we sign up for to prevent telemarketers from calling?
