Well here’s some drivel from out in LA criticizing our championship. I thought all teams can use the portal now. This is what the public and players wanted. Florida Fans, Cover Your Ears. I Need to Tell the Truth About This NCAA Win.
That didn't seem too bad to me, just echoing what people are saying about NIL and unlimited transfers killing the upsets in the tournament. But as much as good players from small teams can move to bigger teams to compete for championships, I think there's still a place for overlooked players from bigger teams to move to smaller teams for more visibility and break out there. Basically, I think (I hope) it balances out more in the future.
The guy is all over the place. Portal is good, portal is bad. NIL is good, NIL is bad. Pick a side dipchit or STFU. So major division one teams are now stacked so that leads to bad basketball? Your kind fought for this. Deal with it.
Plus it’s stupid to call our transfers “ruthless” considering 2 of the key guards were FL boys (and Clayton had a decision after a coaching change, so give me a break). Richard was with us for 3 years. I don’t think we need to feel guilty about a player graduating from FAU either. Martin was a great story all year! I’m sure some programs have players on their 3rd or 4th team. Players that 100% just chased the highest bidder. THAT is ruthless. FL had none of that to my knowledge, although I’m sure we must’ve ponied up some NIL $$$. Obviously we lean towards transfers, but Condon, Haugh, Aberdeen were original recruits. If Klavzar and Brown get big minutes next year that’s 5 minimum that were FL recruits plus 2 more freshmen coming in. I’m sure we’ll try to add at least one big time scoring guard in the transfer portal considering the point production that needs to be replaced, but we could conceivably be getting the majority of our production from non-transfers next year depending on how things shake out.
Last I checked, Duke had as many portal takes this year as us (3). And the only reason we were relatively portal dependent is because the staff just got here. 3 of our top 8 were high schoolers we signed. And 3 of our portal guys were brought in as sophomores, who had little record of success anywhere else. It’s not like we took a bunch of portal mercenaries. As a matter of fact, the only transfer we’ve had who has played at multiple stops previously was Rishwain, and he hardly got on the court. But I guess it’s more acceptable to drop the country’s largest hoops budget on one-year freshmen rentals rather than developing lower rated kids who were overlooked in the recruiting process.
What a idiot. Hate that I hit his link. Martin and Clayton both had coaches at the former schools leave and Martin was a grad transfer. Also low of him to say what he did about the titlex BS making it sound like Todd was guilty of something with no proof at all that he did anything wrong.
Lol! ^This guy sounds snooty and elitist. Florida won it all with no top 100 HS players on their roster.
