Certainly seems to have paid to target transfers who had reasons to buy into Florida culture, with Clayton being from Bartow and Martin spending 4 years at FAU, and not just sign any random hired gun with no ties.
That's where player evals come in, bro. Will Richard could always shoot. Walter Clayton, Jr. could always shoot. Alijah Martin could always defend. Alex Condon could always Aussie Football. Ollie Rioux could always 7'-9".
He went from having a great Sophomore bump to Junior All SEC type in one season. I can’t wait to see his improvement in the fall.
The fouls thing might have played a role if the game went to OT. But the actual game was 8 vs 8 with similar bench #’s. I don’t know enough about Houston to know if they had a couple more guys that could play. We have another 2 or 3 we know could have pitched in quality minutes in a pinch.
I was there in Indy watching UCLA defend against LSU and I kept thinking that if they play that defense against the Gators we will KILL them. Drove to Champaign, IL to be with my dad and he told me that UCLA was going to whoop us because of their D. I told him to stick to football and golf because you know NOTHING about basketball.
Just made it harder. A Cinderella could sneak in and make some noise but then the team falls apart because key players hit the portal and jump to a bigger program. Future Cinderellas have one shot with no chance of a repeat or even build on it.
