Rothrock has to get back to post season form from last year and be Friday/Sunday every week. This team will go as she goes. In the SEC you have to have at least one elite pitcher and she is it. Right now, Florida is a team that can lose in the regionals. If/when Rothrock comes around........ they can sniff the World Series again.
Out of curiosity, if y’all, hypothetically, got a call from CTW and he said he was taking feedback from fans on what to do with the lineup and asked for your input, what would you change? Who would you put where? And why? I’m spiraling from trying to review stats and need a distraction before I decide I need to go back to school for a degree that will make me better at numbers. We are all aware that, in reality, the coaches have info we don’t and, ultimately, know better than us. But still, surely some of y’all have some thoughts on this. Indulge me. Please.
After 42 games the Gators have lost one more game this year than last year. Also, the Gator schedule through 42 games is tougher this year than last. The sky is not falling.
Oh, I know! I one million percent think we are going to be just fine. I am, like others, concerned with a few things that are currently presenting, but we are one of the best programs in the nation and have a roster stacked ridiculously deep with talent. Just trying to have a bit of fun/hear what others think about different players and their potential/etc. Sincerely, Chicken Little
The main difference is Keagan Rothrock was studding the circle last year, while this year she's struggling with some kind of health issue and has pitched very little in 5-6 weeks. Plus we don't have Skylar Wallace, the ultimate team leader and motivator.
I wouldn't say it's falling, but there are a number of reasons for concern, which I've been articulating (to much derision and dismissal) around here since before league play started: Rothrock injury and consequent exposure of other pitching as shaky overall, bats struggling to come up with timely hits against good pitching, uncharacteristic fielding errors. Nothing that's cause for panic, but they're far from hitting their ceiling. If you asked the coaches and players, do you think they'd say they're perfectly happy with the season so far? If not, then why do we have to pretend otherwise? If you watch the players a number of them seem very frustrated in their facial expressions and body language. They know they can play much better.
All is good folks. Gators are basket champs and the market is heading north today. So let's sit back and enjoy the ride as these fantastic young ladies work their way back to the WCWS. Go Gators
Lets do this and see what happens. Comia to second, Williams to DH and Brown to pitching and maybe pitch hitter unless you have someone else in mind.
Agree, plus our RPI is still very good at #3. I can live with that. Big series are coming up from here on out starting with ole miss. Taking 2 of 3 from Ole miss would be very good. They have a stud freshmen strikeout pitcher and Binford (who played for Baylor last year) .
Taking the series from Mississippi is more than a "very good," it is a must. If they can't win series against Mississippi and Alabama what is going to happen when they play LSU and Oklahoma.
Men’s BB tried to kill all of Gator Nation this tournament run lol. Add them to the long line. I’m not sure how many heart attacks and mini stokes march madness supplied but it was many and most importantly worth it!
I am ready for a Softball restart. This is not the results that our girls wanted. They hate losing more than we can imagine. They're winners. I am hoping tonight is where they draw the line in the sand and do what they think and know what they can do. Our ladies are winners. Go Gators!
Our problem is we have too many problems right now across the board. Thankfully I think most of them can be fixed but it’s go time right now! Sadly I think our defense this season is what it is and we’re stuck with it. Offense and pitching will have to overcome.
Don’t you wish you discovered softball sooner? I know I do! I fell in love with softball as soon as I accidentally discovered it. I remember saying to myself “omg! This is awesome! How did I not know this existed?!”
The Olivia situation is a head scratcher to me as well. I love that kid and so badly want her to do great. I can’t help but think the last pitching coach did her dirty. If her mechanics were so bad that a complete overhaul was required then why was she even recruited in the first place? I mean for sure maybe tweak something here, something there but a complete overhaul of how she’s pitched her entire life? I just don’t get it. Coach Golden once said something to the effect of not just wanting guys that want to play but guys that WANT to play with a GATOR across their chest. Olivia always WANTED to be a Gator.
They didn’t go after her hard until they struck out in the portal. She was a last second stop gap recruit because we only had two pitchers on the roster. Maybe whatever they didn’t like about her mechanics was a known issue and the reason they didn’t go after her until she’d already signed with Ole Miss. That being said, I haven’t seen anything from her that says she’s THAT much less deserving than some of the others on the staff. I was hoping to see much more of her this year, and remain as baffled as you about her limited opportunities.
