It WAS an over the back. I just can’t believe they actually called it against the media darling (Broome too). Meanwhile Walt doesn’t get the calls, doesn’t complain and just outplays the competition.
Disagree. He hooks the arm from behind and prohibits the houston player from getting to the ball. Soft foul, but a foul.
Almost like jolding in football, a little ticky tack with too much on the line to me. Play on. They allowe so much for Auburn and Houston and then go there.
Thank the Lord that Copper Flag’s Mom doesn’t have to get the ratio on any part of her body (other than her face) that Copper designates. 2025 Oedipus crisis in Durham.
10 minutes? I vote for classic last 3 minutes. But that is just me. I don't think I would believe it if I hadn't witnessed it. Duke didn't really melt down per se, just that the round ball sort of bounced a silly millimeter in an unexpected direction. The Duke player who missed the free throw was a classic too-young-for-the-moment player and that is fine. Otherwise, they had things on auto-pilot. This is also why I was never down on our team when we lost tough games, usually because we got so far behind that we did not have enough time to overcome the deficit. All I wanted for us was to be in the top 3 in the SEC rankings at the end of the season. Mission accomplished. You need to go through adversity and tough losses to be able to finish on top when it truly counts. Duke plainly did not. And as an aside, I thought the game was a great symbolic gesture that the basketball gods have now removed the Houston Phi-Slamma-Jamma curse. The crown is now on Duke's head. I am so glad that The Dream got to watch it in person. THAT was magical!
I said this in the post-game comments. Methinks the college refs are not prepared or skilled enough to tackle this level of athletic skill. In the NBA, you get to see the players over and over and they get reputations built based on history and reviewing after the games. You just can't see on the court what you can from cameras picking things up in slow motion and zooming. Call the game evenly and that is the best outcome. The second best is maintaining consistency, but it appears that is too hard to do. Mugging allowed for 30+ minutes and then blow the whistle when the offensive player feels the breeze of the defensive player. Just have to feel the way the game is called at any moment and then adjust on the fly. Was this game called evenly? I thought Duke got too much street cred in the calls, except for the last one on Flagg. And his reaction was classic, just like Broome on his charge. "How come you are calling it a foul now? You gave it to be before, why aren't you my friend anymore???" Coddling should never be a part of real sports. Sadly, the money interests tell a different tale.
Yea that call was suspect, he didn’t go over the back as much as he reached out beside him to get the ball. What a call on the consensus #1 NBA pick to end Duke’s season. Sometimes refs do god’s work.
Well, my 19 and 21 year old daughters are both accomplished dancers and I LOVE Lightning Hockey as much as any sport... But I understand the point.
The last time i watched my neice perform in the Nutcracker will be my last time. My granddaughters are out of luck.
