Louis is a summer enrollee. Kearney moved to OG. Macoll moved to OC. Lovett named starting RT to start spring. We'll see who's the starter for the April 12th spring game. It appears everyone is heathy, which is big news. In years past there weren't enough healthy OL to have a real spring game. One year SOS played 9-man football with 3-OL in the spring game- damn, he was so much fun!
George is a massive human. He may have gained weight but he doesn't have a gut. There's no extra fat hanging from any part of his body.
Comments from Jake Slaughter: "Bryce (Lovett) is one of the most special athletes I've been around, especially as an offensive lineman," Slaughter said Thursday. "I truly mean it when I say you he play all five positions, but he just has great movement skills. He bends, he wants to do it, he's getting better in the weight room, he's getting better on the field. So, we're all super excited for him." "He's a really smart kid," Slaughter said of Marcus Mascoll. "It's one of those things where as soon as he gets the confidence at center, he gets the reps, he knows he can get it out quick, make his ID, make his call and get set, snap the ball and roll, he's gonna be super special."
From overall reports it appears Lovett’s athleticism is special, as Slaughter stated, and that’s what has him as the starting RT. Specifically it allows him to get out in front on longer developing running plays. BCD was quick in pass protect sets, but maybe not very fast when it came to running some of the counter running plays. This is when the OT runs across the LOS to lead a counter. Supposedly Lovett is crazy good getting out in front of the counter run setts. We’ll see. Something to look for in camp videos and the O&B game.
UF is on spring break next week; no practice. Here's how the OL depth chart looks after part one of spring practice: LT: Barber, Westphal, Dice, Medlock LG: Harris, Kearney, Rosenberg OC: Slaughter, Zandamela, Mascoll, Clem RG: George, Waites, Portnjagin RT: Lovett, Manuel or Jones, Wangoy, Faircloth Things will pick up when they return on 3/25. We'll know a lot more after the 2nd scrimmage on April 5th.
If this holds into the season that Lovett starts in SEC play, what a luxury we have in Manuel as a backup who has SEC starts under his belt.
Yes... Just hope all the OTs are OK with their spots and stay for 2025. For Lovett, @bobbybaker86 posted a great x post about him. I'll post it here.
I have to think that Manuel got paid as the only good experience OT after starters, if Lovett starts. We only have inexperience or bad experience after him. I see him playing a lot, and then for 2026 transfer concerns it's up to how good he has become in comparison to the young talented guys.
