Condon struggled today, as he has during the tourney. But his effort still paid dividends. He had two HUGE close outs on the arc. One forced a traveling call, and the other a miss.
Just made the same comment in the game thread when someone said we got nothing out of him. Nobody else on our team makes those two plays. Reminds me of theHorford close-outs back in the day.
I am still in shock at that call. They almost never call charges anymore. To call it on Broome, at that point in the game, was hard to fathom, but it was so obviously a charge.
I made a comment the other day, I couldn't remember the last charge someone took. Not just in our games, period.
Exactly right. He contested everything at the rim, too. And took a huge charge. Kid obviously needs to gain some more confidence scoring in the paint, and in his offensive game overall, but is effort, physicality, and toughness will never be a question.
If the game had been called fairly, Broom would have fouled out early. His MO is to hack at your arms (fouls) none of which were called. Game was like the Reacher-Paulie fight and I am glad we were Reacher.
It was 3 possessions in a row he fouled Condon when he had the ball up top. At least 1 of those had to be called. He two hand shoved Condon on that late 3 by mazara. It was before he let the shot off also, just blatant shove.
Condon forced it. Even if Mazara put it up… it’s a block. Condon has the length, effort and discipline to close and not put himself in jeopardy of fouling the three.
Methinks sometimes we forget through his excellent play at times, he has only a few seasons under his belt. He was a rugby player before he devoted his talent to basketball. Every time he has a sub 20 point , 12 rebound game, it is mentioned that he is off his game. He played hard against Broome, who is a BANGER who shot no shot over 8 feet. It was our “group” that wore him down and held him to three points in the second half. True TEAMWORK. Coach challenged the bigs at halftime. As before, we answered the call in the second half. WHAT a team.
