1990 - I believe UCF is in the Big 12 not 10. As far as WBB, Kelly Rae has NOT had a losing season. In fact, she is the only coach in our WBB history to make the post season 4 years in a row. When you stack that up against her HNIL money is 14th of 16 teams, it is remarkable we have done this well. IAs I told Sandman, I look at the loss per game played as opposed to the actual bottom line. Just FYI - So Carolina WBB lost $6 Mil and they are the standard and they play to pretty much sold out home games. To my way of thinking, M&W Golf, M&W Tennis, Lacrosse, and Gymnastics are by far the biggest losers on a per game/match basis. I do not want to get rid of any of these sports but basically all the sports suck off of Football and MBB.
I know they work so hard and hate to lose. The runners left on base probably upsets them more than it does us but not as much as it upsets CTW. Gotta get that fixed. It’s not too late but it is getting later on in the season.
Last years team wasn't expected to do as well as they did. They were a group of overachievers that got to the semifinal of the WCWS. This years team might be feeling the pressure of being preseason #2 and expected to make the final of the WCWS which is a tough road to go down. I hope they make it; but if they don't so be it for they are a fantastic group of young ladies. I believe win or loose they have our support until the final out of the season.
Agreed. I mentioned not long ago that perhaps the expectations were causing the entire team to press too hard. I’ve no idea if that’s the actual case but I think it’s a reasonable possibility. I absolutely believe the talent and coaching is there so maybe they just need to trust in the work they put in and have fun. Easier said than done I imagine but I have faith in them. And of course they are fantastic young ladies, every Gator class is minus a few exceptions. 2012 and those who won’t be named.
@eilidh bringing us some good fortune to start off the weekend on the right foot. Men's Tennis win over Georgia to get things started. Here's to a full sweep of all things taking place in HOGTOWN and in San Antonio. Go GATORS! ,WESGATORS
Watched Grace Jones in high school at Episcopal in Jacksonville. She was a pleasure to watch pitch. Probably not a power 5 talent but hear she is getting some time throwing at Mercer and starting in most games at the plate whem she doesn't pitch.
I hope you had a safe trip here and our girls bats light up this weekend! Think big, crooked numbers every inning lol!
Not the start we wanted tonight but let's hope for this to happen tomorrow!! Was still an insane evening for me to actually be there in person!! Anyone know how to get an actual game type ball (not the ones in the shop area) with a gators logo on it?
I think conference BA is a much better indicator than overall. Korbe 267, Kenleigh 235, Jocelyn 208. Therein lies a major problem. Last year in conference Korbe was 457, Jocelyn was 431, and Kenleigh 288. Huge difference.
Weird observation....regarding the pregame hype video, shown before player introductions. This year's hype video mentioned only two players by name: Mia Williams and Ava Brown. When I first saw it months ago, I sorta wondered whether CTW had a hand in that, since Mia is his reclamation project (going well) and Ava needs a mental boost since her role has greatly changed. I've never seen the pregame hype video re-cut and changed during the season. But last night, the part where Mia Williams is mentioned has been removed from the hype video and Kenleigh Cahalan inserted in her place. Odd.
Possible, although never seen that before during the season and they left it the same for the last two months. If they wanted to take turns, they should have a quicker rotation. Only nine home games left in the season.
If you have the time, next week at the Orange and Blue Film Festival the Sunflower documentary will be shown. This is the story of Heather Braswell and the origins of Sunflower Saturdays. We were lucky enough to get an early screening of the documentary this morning at the softball complex. well worth the watch and interesting to see Francesca was the one who started it.
UVA who has four hitters hitting under .300 has chased Danley after just one inning (the fsu pitcher who shut us down) they have scored 3 runs off her and 5 hits. Something is deeply wrong with the hitting.
