Will pub senators vote to confirm that the use of the International Economic Emergency Powers Act, IEEPA, to declare an emergency at the border with Canada is appropriate?

All while knowing how it is going to hurt their constituents?

It's one thing to say we were just supporting potus and it wa shsi fault and another to say yes I voted for it

'Uncharted waters': Trump 'playing with fire' as Dems force GOP senators into 'uncomfortable vote'

AP, in an article published on April 1, reports, "Even as the resolution from Democratic Sen. Tim Kaine of Virginia offered them a potential offramp to the tariffs levied on Canadian imports, Republican leaders were trying to keep senators in line by focusing on fentanyl that comes into the U.S. over its northern border. Kaine's resolution — expected to go to a vote as early as Tuesday, (April 1) — challenges Trump's use of the International Economic Emergency Powers Act, also called IEEPA, to declare an emergency at the northern border in order to hit Canada with tariffs. The IEEPA includes a provision allowing any senator to force a vote to block emergency powers."

the fact that any senator can force a vote is a little pearl of wisdom in the bill

damn shame they didn't do the same about the alien enemy act

this one has the skidmark anxious. going scorched earth on 4 pub senators

Senators are going to be forced to vote to enact these tariffs based on the minimal amount of fentanyl coming from Canada and defend that vote.

It has a lot of pub senators very nervous about having to agree to grant that level of executive power in an affirmative manner.

'Devastating for the Republican Party': Trump attacks Dem for move to block Canada tariffs

President Donald Trump lashed out at Sen. Tim Kaine (D-VA) for trying to derail tariffs on Canadian goods, a move that the commander-in-chief said would be "devastating for the Republican Party." In a Washington Post op-ed, Kaine explained that he was forcing a Senate vote on Trump's Canadian tariffs because the "cost will be borne by American families."

"The emergency powers Trump is invoking — based on provisions of the 1977 International Emergency Economic Powers Act — are intended for use in legitimate emergencies related to foreign threats and adversaries," he added. "He has made spurious claims of a fentanyl crisis at the northern border on par with the drug situation at the southern border, but his numbers don't add up."
    ................................................
On Tuesday, Trump slammed Kaine for daring to take action against his agenda.

"Senator Tim Kaine, who ran against me with Crooked Hillary in 2016, is trying to halt our critical Tariffs on deadly Fentanyl coming in from Canada," Trump wrote. "Republicans in the Senate MUST vote to keep the National Emergency in place, so we can finish the job, and end the scourge."
