As professors and top international students shun USA and leave for other institutions around the world, I just wonder if MAGA will be proud of destroying the best university system in the world?

These colleges, like the law firms, need to band together. Watching them line up like dominoes instead of a unified defiance is disturbing

Rest assured that european companies are digging it

Trump sets his sights on Princeton next, freezing dozens of grants as crackdown on Ivy Leagues continues

The Trump administration has suspended dozens of federal research grants at Princeton University, Christopher L. Eisgruber, the Ivy League university's president, announced on Tuesday.Grants from agencies including the Energy Department, NASA, and the Defense Department were being halted, according to a campus-wide message from Eisgruber.

"We are committed to fighting antisemitism and all forms of discrimination, and we will cooperate with the government in combating antisemitism," Eisgruber said. "Princeton will also vigorously defend academic freedom and the due process rights of this University.""The full rationale of this action is not yet clear," he added.

Princeton's funding halt marks Trump's latest crackdown on a growing list of elite universities facing similar federal funding threats, some over allegations of antisemitism on campus.

On Monday, a federal antisemitism task force announced a sweeping review of Harvard's nearly $9 billion in federal grants and contracts.

All colleges and universities should take heed.

Trump is using the power of the federal government to settle grudges, in an unconstitutional and criminal manner.

    In other words, nothing new.

(Silver lining is that it's fun to see the "values" MAGA voters pretend that this isn't happening.)

Trump funding cuts to research universities, aka Innovation Incubators, is really going to hurt the US (and the economy) in the mid- to long term.

Yeah, but cancer research is so "woke" and "lib". . . and clearly anti-Semitic in nature.

That's his intention, I dare say.

his intention is to hurt anyone that he or his crew ever felt looked down or dismissed them. it's like a bunch of scorned school girls got in control. it resonates through every action.

The irony is a disproportionate percent of administration and students at Ivey league schools are Jewish, so they will be disproportionately hurt.

I have two stem kids. Youngest is working on undergrad in biology and math. Most research opportunities went away last month.
Oldest is CS undergrad and working on masters in math. He lost funding for the summer portion of his year long research in Boston but he decided to self fund (travel, room and board). TUM in Munich tried to poach him though. His GF is working on doctorate in some obscure biology, some French company poached her.

The best and brightest have opportunities but it most likely will be overseas. Could be a massive brain drain for the US.

Could be nothing. It is happening. And many of these young professionals will have families and stay making it a generational problem. Daughter is a physical therapist. Stayed in London despite multiple hospitals recruiting her to come back to Florida
