I drive by a couple of Steak n Shakes regularly and they both look almost empty. Maybe a car or two outside.
Then there's this, which I thought was a joke. But I guess not ...
    Or are we being punked?

Is that what McDonalds used to use? Their fries used to be great.

Steak ’n Shake was struggling. It turned to beef tallow — and MAGA.

In my view the only upside of mass-derangement 2020) was that we didn’t have to hear so much about food fanaticism and the notion that we’re eating ourselves to death.

so if I go spread 10 lbs of french fries around the parking lot to get the birds to flock and crap on the teslas, is that terrorism?

    asking for a friend?

Have you been to a Steak and Shake lately? Around here they went from being known for bad service to now being "no service". Order on a Kiosk, pick up your food, fill your own drink, eat on paper plates with cheap plastic forks that bend before they pick your food, then clean up after yourself including sorting your own garbage / trays / baskets, etc... and for all this the recommended tip on the Kiosk is 20% ...

Use to love their Chili Mac as a kid, and I occasionally still use their drive thru, that's about it...

I disagree. Their fries are part of the Make America Healthy Again program. At least that's what I'm told

5 fries a day will keep the doctor away (because the NIH laid him off)

Yea. My wife and I stopped in and were told to order at the kiosk, have a seat, and someone would bring our food out,
We left and will not be back.

Here, they don’t even bring the food to the table, they call your name and you pick it up at the counter, like it’s a Taco Bell… their “dine in” experience sucks…

How would someone from the future explain this to people 10 years ago, when driving a Tesla was associated with vegan soy latte drinkers ... well you see, uh, well ...

The thing is that prior to Fentanyl (2015) and mass-panic (2020) the evidence you could cite, for Americans being unhealthy, was that Germans were living a whopping ten months longer.

I looked up the difference between beef tallow and vegetable oil, and it doesn’t look positive to me. Vegetable oil is usually low or zero in saturated fat and cholesterol… while beef tallow is usually high in both. Not sure why this would be considered a healthy move, but RFK jr is a moron, so I guess that explains it.

I've had educated people literally tell me that eating tofu (a soy product) would reduce my testosterone and stuff. There is this idea out there that seed oils make you gay, weak, effeminate or something, and it seems to have reach with people that are mainlining tik tok and other influencer type content. I'm sure there is lots of overlap between the fad dieters, anti-vax, manosphere, influencer, etc. Seems like RFK draws a lot of people. "Healthy" isnt about actual health to them, its like some kind of vibe or mindset.

They're stuck between a rock and a hard place. When S&S was big, it was typically dine-in. I'm not sure people associate S&S with drive-thru or somewhere to grab something quick.

I always associated it with trans-fats and stuff like that. Margarine, etc., which isn't healthy. I use butter and olive oil (unless deep frying) and have no interest in processed oils. But apparently there is more to the story on "seed oils"?
