So your position is that we enslave and exploit criminals and that's not fair?

That poster you’re responding to is just too much.
Who seriously makes those kinds of comments?
    Hilarious.

Yes, I oppose slavery ... it appears you dont? Slavery is good if you dont like the people? I've got some news about how your Confederates felt about black people.

Sometimes I can't tell if a poster really believes what they're saying or they're just pulling my leg.

We appreciate your rational centrist takes about how slavery is ok if you don't care about the people

around 50 million people are still enslaved in the World today - plus all the human trafficking that was occurring at the border under joey. I would think you libs would be more concerned about that, rather than something that occurred in the US over 160 years ago.

Again, so you don't want Juneteenth celebrated because you don't want people reminded abouit slavery. But you think the Confederate statues are OK because the Confederacy never makes you think about slavery? Is that it?

I've seen Confederate statues my whole life. Never once did I think of slavery.

This is the South and they fought for the South. That's the connection.....not slavery.

Why was the South fighting, specifically? Oh yeah, they were fighting for their right to engage in racial slavery. That's the connection.

Do you think everyone looks at the Confederacy that way?

Of course not. It was an ugly war. It was over 150 years ago but there are people who still despise the other side.

So you do realize that the statues could well remind other people of slavery, even it they don't with you?

So can history books, movies, etc. I mean, it was 150+ years ago. Shouldn't one have more productive things to do with their lives that fret over history from over a century ago.

Of course, the democrats work diligently to keep the hard feelings alive.

Says the guy mad that people might celebrate the end of legalized chattel slavery but wants monuments honoring the defenders of legalized chattel slavery.

Most of the statues were cheaply made and made and put up in the 1950 and 60s. My ideal would be to leave them up and put new plaques up explaining that racist white people put these up nearly a hundred years after the war. Showing that time passes but racism lasts.

    No.
That’s what the libbie democrats want people to believe.
Most rational people who aren’t so easily influenced, and who aren’t so interested in dividing the country don’t believe your story about the civil war.

It was the Confederacy Leader's story. You can find it in their quotes, in their official reasons for leaving the Union, and in just about every source from the time. Rational people look for that sort of evidence. Motivated reasoners just deny evidence because it is inconvenient.
