I’m thinking of pulling the trigger on doing another solo trip but this time it would be for the entire shebang. Would fly out Saturday to minimize time away from home. Our son is in full time daycare so it would only really be Saturday and Sunday as the full days. And if we were to lose Saturday (hoping not as I’m undefeated in going to basketball tourneys) I would change the flight to come back early Sunday morning. What say you? P.S. I told my wife as soon as he’s old enough, Eli will be going on these adventures with me so there won’t be any concerns about needing to hold down the fort!
...and it will be your fault! Look, I do my part: I don't watch the games on TV. This is a team sport. Do not think of yourself in this. Goodness knows, I don't.
Yes, you must go but you can't forget to give us a review of the San Fran trip before you leave. One requirement to keep the win streak going is to finish your obligation on the last trip. Without doing that you might upset the basketball gods and send us all down a dire path. So please complete the last trip conditions before getting too far drawn into this one......
Flights and hotel are booked!! Going to wait on a ticket for Saturday unless a good deal falls in my lap! LFG!!!!!!!
Go and enjoy. I have gone to most of the Gator Final Fours. Had a blast in 1994 going to both the Regional Finals and the Final Four. Gave Duke everything they could handle in the semifinals. Stayed for the Championship game. Couldn't go in 2000 but I really wanted to go. My dad lived in Champaign. IL and became an Illinois fan but just after WWII he attended Purdue for a couple of years and went to their basketball games. He was at the game with the famous bleacher collapse but was on the phone to his girl friend (future wife) when it happened. He transferred to IIT/Armour Institute to finish his engineering degree to be closer to his girl friend. Just couldn't find cheap enough travel arrangements and my department head was making it hard for me to miss teaching classes. He told me that my TAs could not cover lectures and only full profs could. He was a Michigan fan and didn't like Illinois or Gator fans. LOL. I could have gotten the full prof thing covered but travel was fubar. My dad would have loved it. In 2006 I KNEW we were going to win it and my classes were Tuesday/Thursday. I pre-cancelled the Tuesday class and told them "You will all be out celebrating Monday night." Spent the weekend with my dad who told me that UCLA was going to beat us. I said to him if they play the same style of D we will clean their clocks. In 2006 my kids were not happy that they didn't get to go to the Final Four. We promised them that next time they would go not expecting the the 04's would all come back along with Lee Hump. We made good on our promise and got them about the worst seats in the house for the first game. I told them to scope out where those teams were playing because you can filter down for the second game into the losing team's section. My wife made the score of the century between games getting really good Ohio State seats for my kids for the championship game. There was a student that had two but had to get back to school. In 2014 we went to Dallas and got some time with my younger brother. Too bad it was rainy that weekend. I only got to see his Shelby Cobra and not get a ride in it. I don't think he would actually let me drive it. LOL. He is a gear head and was a big wheel with Cummins. He had a hydraulic lift in his garage for working on his fleet of cars.
I have a good group of six people going if you want to join us for before the game. We already have tickets. If so, shoot me a DM. Also. My dad can't make the chip if we make it. He has to work. So if you want to buy his ticket if we make it, it's open.
Will shoot you a PM brother! Might take you up on the tickets and am definitely down to meetup to drink etc.!
Nope. I am going to a family funeral instead. I think that I will make it home in time to watch the game on TV.
