After the SEC Tournament, Florida became the pick to make for the men's tournament and received fawning reception from the media, and deservedly so considering how they dismantled the most difficult conference tournament potentially in history of men's hoops. It was also the first time all year that the basketball team received this type of positive scrutiny - I think Florida was mostly an afterthought most of the regular season comparatively to their contemporaries. Florida did their part and made it to the final 4, but now the media fawning has shifted over to everyone except Florida, and again deservedly so considering how the other teams played and how Florida did. I like this - I hope if there was any unwarranted pressure for being the trendy pick prior to the tournament starting it is now washed away, and the team can once again play freely to their potential.
I noticed it too...everyone's on the Auburn over Florida bandwagon although Broome might not be 100%. We may not be 100% healthy either with Condon's foot. Hopefully, we'll play like we did at the SEC Tournament and get back to playing at a high level. We'll need to be to win the whole thing.
The pressure of expectations has shifted, and I believe this will be a positive thing for our 'underdog', hunter vs. hunted team.
We may be favored but I think the pressure is on Auburn. They've been favored all year, including preseason.
Im no expert on all the talking heads, but the only article I saw on ESPN had all their guys predicting a Florida victory over Auburn. Men's Final Four predictions, previews for Auburn-Florida, Duke-Houston
Can you let us know which "talking head" you saw predicting Auburn to beat UF (besides Auburn alums like Barkley)? Thanks! As the poster above noted, ESPN, Yahoo, CBS, USA Today all seem to uninamously pick UF. So, interested in what you are seeing to make such a comment. Thanks!
If we win the whole thing I can see the headlines now..... "COOPER FLAGG, BEST COLLEGE PLAYER EVER!! LEADS DUKE TO CHAMPIONSHIP GAME!!!...gators win title"
I like UF's chances against Auburn, but the Duke/Houston winner will be tough, and I suspect UF will have to play one of the best games of the year should they advance. No matter what, I have already marked this season down as one of the most enjoyable in my UF BBall experience. 34 wins is now the 3rd best win total in Gator history. So much fun to watch all these mid major transfers and not so highly ranked H.S. guys jell into SEC and West Region champs. What a journey! Thank you Todd, assistants and players!

Not exactly. ESPN Bet in your link says Florida -2.5, which means favored (+ is underdog). ESPN analytics says Auburn is more likely to win at 57% but that's not the sports book. The analytics likely take into account stats for the entire season so it makes some sense (admittedly I don't know exactly what they take into account). Bettors have eyes and recency bias, so they disagree with those analytics today.
It really is. And when I bring this up, I am almost invariably told that betting lines only draw equal amounts of money to both sides of the bet, which sounds to me like someone complaining that their GPS can only tell them their location anywhere on Earth within 2 feet.
