Trump told French companies with fed contracts to eliminate DEI in their companies. France collectively sad no.

In a legal world, one cannot simply change contract terms in the middle of the contract.

Apparently senile old orange men dont understand this and everyone is too scared to tell him.

France reacts to Donald Trump's DEI ultimatum

French Minister for Gender Equality Aurore Bergé indicated in an interview that companies will refuse to follow Trump's request.
Newsweek contacted the U.S. State Department by email to comment on this story.

    Why It Matters

Since taking office again, Trump has been making major changes including an executive order to remove officials overseeing DEI initiatives. This includes international companies that work with and for America.

I agree that it’s not fair to change contract terms in mid contract, even if I agree with eliminating all aspects of DEI that violate the larger principles of Equal Opportunity.

Good for them. This really is more a question of sovereignty than anything and you can't allow a clown like Trump to dictate your domestic policy (among others).

That said, "Minister of Gender Equity." . . .

Is this really a necessary position? I wonder how big the staff is?

Sounds like the Trump/MAGA approach in which less qualified white guys are given preference over minorities and women.

I would be strongly aligned with moving away from DEI IF we saw actual equal opportunity employment from our leadership. Because what I have seen is backslapping favor-driven handouts to friends and donors with no regard to actual experience. I loathe hypocrisy (except when I’m the hypocrite).
