If Montverde had been able to keep it's 2024 seniors for an extra year and also was able to participate in the 2025 NCAA tournament, could it have made a run at the Final 4?
It would have been possible. With a front court of: - Asa Newell (UGA) / Liam McNeely (UConn) - Derik Queen (UMd) - Cooper Flagg (did he play this year?) And a backcourt of: - Robert Wright (Baylor) - Curtis Givens (LSU) That's hands down the best front court in the game this year, no? The backcourt would probably get dominated by other backcourts, but a deep run would definitely be in the cards for them. Just crazy.
I would think that McNeeley or Flagg would move to the backcourt. That's potentially 4 lottery picks plus one of the Baylor starting guards in the starting lineup.
Todd should be able to start getting these guys now. Most of them probably weren’t from Florida to begin with though. That’s what made Donovan in his early career. He was a mad dog recruiter.
Call me crazy, but I would rather have Thomas Haugh for three years and watch him grow than Cooper Flagg for one year and watch him take off for the pros.
Not crazy, but it depends. I will take one 'chip over 3 nice seasons. Lets see what next weekend holds before I can agree or disagree.
How much does Monteverde pay these kids to come and play there...where do they get that kind of money?
I'd presume they just give them a full scholarship. These kids have to go to high school somewhere*. If you are a basketball stud why wouldn't you want to go to somewhere like Montverde, IMG Academy, or Don Bosco? You get great exposure for the next level. *Obviously some outliers like Karter Knox leave HS to play basketball for places like Overtime Elite
Don Bosco isnt a basketball power, its not even a fooball power anymore....(not sure where or why you pulled that name up?)
