We invited people to watch the game at our place for my birthday party. Later in the night, my friend says Sears had only 6 points. That’s crazy. He’s like the same dude as Clayton! I reply, except when Clayton has a bad game, he scores 30.
Well he definitely wasn’t quiet at the end. For about 35 minutes you could say he quietly had about 20 points (with more than half at the line). Have to give TTU credit as obviously their game plan was to shut down Clayton. Hell they even doubled/trapped him on the perimeter a bunch of times to force it out of his hands (I remember one in particular ended with a Haugh 3). Kind of crazy their plan sort of worked for much of the game but Clayton *still* had a monster game. 30 points for Clayton. 20 for Haugh. Only one other guy with 10.
If he is getting 30 on a below average shooting night whats going to happen when he has a great offensive game...
Big difference between our bigs and guards. Clayton, Martin and Richard are mid 80s %. We had the right guys going to the line in the end.
His last three pointer was unreal. All of his momentum was away from the basket and it was dead on. You don’t see stuff like that very often. He’s the next Steph Curry.
How does Clayton stay so cool during the end of these games…I would be a wreck. Guy is a lizard underneath!
That so called "stepback" was more like a runback - when he hit THAT, I felt confident that we were going to win. Edit: reminded me of Reggie Miller vs the Knicks - yes, I'm that old.
His legacy as the best is secured no matter the outcome, imo. Was watching with a bunch of gator fans last night and we all agreed if you were drafting one player from Gator basketball history to start your team he's the 1st pick .
Was coming here to post exactly this. When you are the first to do something in 46 years since Larry Legend himself, you are officially in a league of your own as far as the Florida program is concerned…
He now owns the UF record for most points in a single tourney with 123, with a game to go. Joakim in second with 97. He also now owns the most points in a single season record with 702. With 3 more made threes, he will pass Michael Frazier II for most 3PM in a single season (currently at 116, record is 118).
For the tourney, he is at 24.6 ppg and is shooting 48.7 from the arc. Unreal year. 22 pts per game, 4.7 apg, 41-92 from the arc (47.8) from the arc during this 11 game win streak since UGA. Never seen anything like this at Florida, or in our league, in my lifetime, especially on a team that’s pretty good around him. Maybe Chris Jackson 35 years ago?
