Every game day I wake up and make a double shot of espresso. I do the LA Times crossword as a warm-up and make my wife a triple shot of espresso, add milk and microwave it for 60 second. We then do Wordle, Connections and Spelling Bee. Then I take my dog for a walk. I come home and do the NYT crossword. I do the daily Sudoku and the USA Today crossword after that. Sometimes I do the Jumble but it is kind of dumb. Then I do the dishes from yesterday if I didn't do them the previous evening and make a shopping list for tonight's dinner. I go shopping. I make dinner. Most days I watch something streaming somewhere in there. Wait. I do this almost every day unless I have other things to do as well. I do play duplicate bridge twice a week most weeks during the day. And I have other chores. And there is a shower in there.
We've only lost a few times. I think you need to do a statistical analysis on when it was washed and when we lost. Your diligence in this might be the difference between a Sweet 16 loss and a Natty! Get on it!
Dang it! I’ve never thought about this but I have a silk Hawaiian Gators shirt I bought in Honolulu (they just call it a shirt there) that I’ve worn for this years SEC and NCAA tournament games. Thanks for getting in my head. Lol. I’ll wear it tonight.
I didn’t watch last night. You’re all welcome. Traditionally I keep up on Twitter but am eschewing that for a Lenten fast, so I’d keep an eye on the score via ESPN app. Not often enough that it equates with “watching”, however.
I didn't wear my lucky Gator sweatshirt yesterday because it was in the 80s here in Colorado, but I did have it on the couch next to me just in case...
I played my part and didn't watch last night. When I checked the ESPN at the half and saw we were up 4 I thought "OK." Then I gave it a gap and checked at the 8 minute mark. Uh-oh. I folded a load of laundry and kept checking the score...fold the t-shirts, check the score. Put away the towels, check. I admit that at the 4 minute-ish point I was pessimistic but I kept thinking of those "spurts" of scoring we have enjoyed all year and knew if we could get one of those, we had a chance. When I saw it was TT up 72-75 at under 2 minutes I felt like it was happening. When I saw we had a lead at 20-ish seconds I just prayed we wouldn't make a 'miracle' video for TT. We didn't. Epilog: I came out of the bedroom and said to my wife, "There's a REASON I don't watch." She said she had seen the score at the 10 minute point and knew I would be sad. I said "No - we won." Her jaw dropped. She couldn't believe it.
The bigger the game the more superstitious I am. Yesterday (Sat) I started to pull a Gator shirt out of the closet late afternoon. But then I remembered for any NCAA tournament games this year I did not wear a Gator shirt. So put it back. I watched the pregame and then the first few minutes of the Texas Tech game and we were not playing that well and we’re behind most of the time so I had to turn the TV off. I checked a couple more times and every time we were close, but not winning so I would not watch. By halftime, I wouldn’t even check my phone for texts or score updates. Like the Ranger (respect to you sir), I did my part to gut out the win. Of course I watched the hi lights, post game discussions and you tube replays so I was up much later than if I had watched. I have at least one friend who does much the same. Crazy I know!! But it works ( until it doesn’t ).
I have a dilemma: I've been at work for the 4 NCAA games so far and unable to watch in real time. I keep the ESPN play by play on and check the computer screen periodically and the watch the DVR recording when home. I'm off next Sat and could watch real time. Do I volunteer to go to work the keep the same routine that's been working or watch in real time and risk it?
I ordered a "vintage" shirt from Homefield that celebrates the b2b championships back in February. We are 13-0 when I have worn it. I'm sorry about the game @UGA, I wasn't home for that one :/ my bad!
I wore a TB Lightning shirt for Maryland, so I decided to wear it again for Texas Tech. I almost took it off half way through the 2nd.... Debating what to wear for the Auburn game. I'm thinking of the one I wore for the home game against Tennessee. Problem with that is it's long sleeve and it's getting hot out! Guess I'll have to crank my AC down and deal with it...
I left my lucky quarter zip I’ve been wearing for the final game of tournaments (regionals in this case) at the gate leaving Atlanta. They literally made an announcement on the plane and I thought thank The Lord I’m going to get it back. But they came to my seat to tell me it would be with lost and found / luggage when I got back to Atlanta (it wasn’t..shocker). So I knew it was going to be a tough game without the quarter zip. It’s beautiful, made by Rhoback. Luckily I did bring my Rowdy Reptile sneakers which I changed into about midway through the second half. Yes, I brought an extra pair of shoes (and a shirt) inside the arena. When I was changing between tv timeouts people thought I was crazy.
My take on Final Four Rituals: The "TEAM" Rituals MUST be as follows: 1) Lead at Halftime. UF is UNBEATEN this year when that happens! 2) Denzel Aberdeen MUST, make a three pointer, UF is UNBEATEN this year when that happens.
The most worry I’ve had all tourney was going into the half tied with UCONN because of that halftime stat
My wife gave me such grief. When we were down 10 with a few minutes left, I told her it was over cause we can’t stop them down low. I am from a long line of over reactors though. I need to have more faith.
