Asa Turner has been granted a 7th year of eligibility:

    MSN

Asa isn't on UF's spring roster:

2025 Football Roster - Florida Gators

I'm wondering if there is room in the inn for him with UF. Napier had been set to announce him as part of pro day, but that has changed with this 7th year ruling.

My thought too Wanne, but this guy could help us. Just seems like he’s one of those guys that can’t get over some physical injury problems: or something.

7 years is like he is a freshman compared to that senior citizen that played for the Canes last year.

Let's be nice though, wasn't he hurt in our first game last year? Hard to say he can't be counted on, he never got a chance.

Statements from Napier on the additional year doesn’t sound like Turner is a definite to be a scholarship player at UF. He talked about how they will see where he fits in, whether here or opportunities elsewhere, potential coaching opportunities, etc.

I think he would be smart to go to a smaller school and get a starting spot

Come on guys, the guy was O&B last year, if he wants to stay, given his experience, why not?
As long as he is good in the "locker room" he could at the very least mentor players, and if he can add depth,
or earns PT - why not?

Well, because Napier has said that he doesn't know what his role would be here at this point. Not up to us.

"He's been granted an extra year of eligibility, and I think his role on our team and his health is a little bit to be determined," Napier said. "But I think, in general, it's a good thing for him. His career has been extended for a year, and then we'll kind of see where we end up. But yeah, I think a guy who has had injury issues throughout his career, not only here but also at Washington, but a great kid, very smart, very dependable. Just kind of needs to work on the durability piece."

Doesn’t matter to me either way - I’m no coach or talent evaluator. But…college football is more and more of a business. If a roster spots are limited - it matters. Do you invest NIL and a limited spot for a guy who played one half and may still be limping a year later OR would you rather- if available post spring - find a replacement who can push for a starting job in the spring portal?

something to consider …I think we are currently one over the scholarship limit (if this even matters with NIL world) and DB Flowers will commit today with UF one possible choice. He is a 2025 kid. Would the coaches - if we need room - prefer a freshman DB or Turner (not saying it is one or the other but could be).

Well of course I defer to Coach's decision, if he considers him valuable enough to keep, he will.

Selfishly I would think the same thing, but CBN probably knows he needs to play a lot for his future, and we need to give 2 freshmen a lot of pt. That doesn't help Asa. CBN seems to care for his guys and their futures, and they respond for him when his back is against the wall.
