Trump: “We are going to bring back soup lines to America like we had in the past, except that they will be longer, but better. Better soup than what they had back then, but less healthy, but nutritious. We will have a bigger depression, an even Greater Depression than what we had before. Some will say the Greatest Depression ever. Most people will love it, some may not, but most will love it and say it’s the best Depression of all time!”
Donald driving global trade agreements to benefit alliances in Asia - leaving the US on the sidelines - in response to his reckless, chaotic, pointless trade war. https://www.reuters.com/world/asia-...regional-trade-trump-tariffs-loom-2025-03-30/
Yep - the buffoon that Trump is had an easy win served up to him and he fumbled it away. That agreement would have expanded markets especially for agriculture and put the US in the driver's seat in the region
This should help with inflation... President Donald Trump said he “couldn’t care less” if foreign automakers raise prices due to the new tariffs his administration has imposed.
“President Trump's newly announced 25% import tariffs on foreign cars will increase vehicle prices by thousands of dollars for cars coming from Germany, Japan, and South Korea, as well as for the U.S.-assembled autos that use foreign-made parts, according to most auto industry experts. However, one company likely to fare better than others is Tesla,” https://www.npr.org/2025/03/27/nx-s1-5342456/tariffs-tesla-imports-musk-trump
the 1 thing even those opposed to tariffs don't seem to get, is that if - god forbid - the tariffs "work" & create US jobs on net, that will make us POORER. what kinda dumbassary leads one to think job creation = wealth creation? the washing machine jobs are costing us over $800,000 a pop.
There is just one fun thing about all of this; Trump supporters see this blatant, flagrant criminality and just pretend it's not happening, just scroll past. But Trumpies, your political hero doesn't even pretend to not be a criminal, using the federal government to punish enemies, reward friends, and enrich himself. Don't you have any feelings on this, anything to say? Are you just going to pretend you didn't sit by and tolerate this after enabling it with your vote? Are you able to still even convince yourselves that you're moral, law-respecting people? Sad to watch our nation's standards of morality steady, but non-stop, slide into the Trumpy gutter. But a little bit funny, at least.
Exactly. Even if they somehow avoid a Great Depression by messing with market mechanics they don't understand, the best we can hope for is reduced standard of living for most of the population. Of course, they just care how it impacts the oligarchs.
Navarro says they are going to increase taxes by about $600 billion per year. That's a massive tax increase -- about $1800 per person in the US. Navarro defends Trump's tariff plan, cites $6 trillion revenue
The stable genius probably has no idea that US branded vehicles assembled in the US are load with imported parts subject to his tariffs or even if he does he lacks the logic to realize that the tariffs will raise the prices on those vehicles lowering demand and ultimately increasing unemployment in the US.
Trump has already told US automakers not to raise prices due to the tariffs which is an admission that he knows what will happen.
Although they may try to limit price increases I seriously doubt that they will run loses to accommodate the Dear Leader.
I have no idea why democrats are not messaging this as a massive, regressive, tax increase, because that’s exactly what it is. Instead, Trump is repeatedly saying “Gyna and Mexico will pay for the tariffs”, and a lot of people don’t seem to know any better. Democrats need to make talking about who really pays Trump’s tariffs a priority .
This is one of those times when dems should just be quiet and let Trump/ MAGA blow up the economy and inflate the hell out of prices. At some point, you can’t actually buy that this is on Biden or O, or whatever boggy man that MAGgots imagine in their heads.
So tomorrow is "Liberation Day" when we impose a 20% tarrif across the board on all trade? Normally, I'd assume this is a lame April Fools joke.
