Martin the only player to play on 2 different Final Four teams in like 600 years or so (ok, maybe 40+ but still).
Free throw shooting tonight was excellent, probably the difference in the game. 25-27 or something like that.
Who knew the free-throw line was going to be our greatest strength? The guys clearly have spent some practice time there lately.
It helped that Micah, Chinyelu, and Condon combined for only 3 of those attempts. Somehow, Chinyelu was only in the game for 11 minutes.
25 of 27. Compared to TT's 7 of 13. That was the difference. Without that stat line, we lose by double figures.
Did TT HC go off leaving the gym cussing about the refs.. or does he actually have class Just kidding I know the answer
Definitely true on the first score. On the second, I thought Chinyelu was—again—terrific defensively. But far the best defensive rebounding rate, contested shots, didn’t foul. No turnovers, but we obviously wanted Condon and Haugh out there together to match up better when Williams spaced the floor. Think we ran them together for 28 minutes, which is about twice as much as usual.
TT was focused on taking away our 3's....especially Clayton's. They fouled a lot doing so. They created their own disadvantage. Foul the guards and pay.
It is all about who goes to the line. Micah missed the front end of a one and one. If he and Condon were shooting all the FTs, then we would have been in trouble. Fortunately, it was the guards and Tommy doing most of the damage.
Holy crap, you're right, I hadn't noticed. Zero fouls. Oddly, only 11 minutes playing. He played 24 against Maryland. Condon got his minutes.
Yeah, Chins looked like our most effective low post defender, holding his own against Williams. I'm thinking CTG decided to go with Haugh because he kind of carried us through the first half. I keep hearing that TT dominated the offensive boards, but they had just 3 more than us. Overall, we had 42 rebounds to their 35.
rserina nailed it above. We went with Condo and Haugh more because it was evident early on that Chin could not keep up with Williams movement going outside.
