Because China wants Greenland... and so does Russia.

Do we want China buying up Greenland? They're buying up all the land (all over the world) with rare Earth Elements, resources that we need for national security. Without these rare Earth elements we have no technology and no military.

China already in the Panama Canal area and that's what happens when we do not actively look to stop China's movement... and they are moving in on Greenland.

Screw the suddenly aware of this Europeans that are actively working with China in the EU already. The EU headquarters in Belgium are already owned and operated by China. Look around and see what's happening.

If you knew how embedded China was in Europe you too would be for simply making a deal directly with Greenland and ignoring Europe and Denmark. We need to make a deal with Greenland.

Greenland has already told the US to F off and you can’t take a hint. Also, the EU headquarters are owned by the Belgium Sovereign Wealth Fund. Where do you get your information?

Don't we have a NATO obligation to defend Greenland already? What more do we need as a deterrent? Hasn't it sorta been understood all along that whatever Greenland has that we need to help defend them is ours for the asking?

Well, to be fair and accurate, it’s more like 100 years. During the 1800s, when Britain, France, Russia, Germany et al were expanding, so were we.

I don’t think your question is specific enough, and I also think quantifying instead of quantifying the reasons will not get you the answer you are looking for. For instance, if Greenland was the only place on the planet we could secure a source of unobtainium, then that might be intrinsically good enough. But if I could provide you with 10 reasons, none of which were better than “We could control its dogsled industry,” then I don’t think that is good enough. I recommend the rephrase of “What is so important about Greenland that we should take it by force?” And the answer I keep coming back to is “nothing.”

Denmark does relatively very little trade with the US. I don’t see Denmark capitulating to Trump under economic pressure. Trump cannot attack a NATO country. Trump can’t leave NATO. So this is just a waste of time. But, JD did get to do his best George Costanza Gor-Tex impression.

While I’m not a “Maga -zombie” there are strategic benefits due to arctic sea ice melting.
    Both militarily and resource wise.

Plus the ability to access offshore resources based off where the continental shelf ends.

I don’t see where he suggested any such thing in his post.

I agree with that. And for that reason, among others, I would welcome the people of Greenland into our republic if that was their wish. But it is not a good enough argument to use force or subterfuge.

To be clear, you right-wingers want the US stop sending money around the world to aid people in need and create allies, yet you are outraged when China wishes to spend money to increase its influence and allies? That is just Trump-level STUPID.

What makes you think that Greenland is for sale? The statement by Denmark that Greenland is not for sale? Did that convince you that it was for sale?

It seems pretty clear to me that’s what he meant from his post. Then later he confirmed as much:

Here is his first post, that’s what I was referring to.

I based it on him saying it was a partnership and the. saying everything doesn’t have to be a fight.

Granted he later went down the other rabbit hole, but based on the first post I didn’t get any inkling he would go to the other.
