Apparently, New York made a special exception to allow direct-to-consumer sales of EVs (championed by this same state senator by the way) back in 2014 that they are now proposing to eliminate. While I detest Elon Apartheid Musk, I find this sort of petty, punitive attempted legislation the exact cr@p that we are hollering about President Apartheid Musk and his Orange side-kick of doing and we should be better than this. They were correct to make the exception in 2014, hopefully sanity prevails and New York politicians do not prove to be a bunch of whiny dumb-arses. https://www.politico.com/news/2025/03/26/new-york-lawmakers-target-tesla-00252361
I agree with OP, but it's not really that big a deal to me. We've got bigger fish to fry. Why? This particular issue leads to a larger question : since our federal government is now run by criminals and liars, who have no concern for doing what's best for our country, only what will enable them to best commit crimes ...... what typical standards of decency, integrity or norms should be afforded to them? We see them break laws at will, utilize a corrupt judiciary to enable their crimes, and respond to being caught with nothing but gaslighting and outright lies. So should we employ the same tactics of dishonesty, immorality and illegality against them? Probably not. But should we have an abundance of concern if that happens? There are bigger concerns to worry about, in my book. Case in point; Trump Admin is caught incompetently jeopardizing out national security and servicemen and women using unsecure communications. Do they even care? No. They do not even care. Their response is to lie to the public. Their concern is for their own criminality, not the welfare of our country. So it's hard to be concerned if they are treated similarly.
Do you play the game the same as the opposition or let them have inherent advantage because you aren't willing?
I think the dealership model needs to go but it’s crap that Tesla gets to do it but not Rivian or Lucid.
