Can't believe I've been waiting for this game since last week. Sheesh. And still no word if Keagan will pitch this weekend? Double sheesh!
We have faced a handful of average pitchers already this season that we can only muster weak infield pop ups...too many to be a coincidence. We must be having issues hitting a certain pitch or spin consistently but I have no clue what that is. All I know is there have been an inordinate amount of infield flies this year and there must be something we are not picking up on. These low speed pitchers should not this much success throughout the lineup. Any thoughts on what this particular pitch is we are not adjusting to or is it just heavy spin and we are too low at contact? Cartoon mentioned during yesterday's game that baseball wasn't hitting sliders from lefties that well at all and sure enough we were fed a bunch of sliders.
McLellan to PH for Brown..she flied out for out #2 down to our last out I can't remember-have we been shut out before this game this year?
Who would've thought a UCF freshman would be the 1st one to shut out the Gators this year. Situational hitting still lacks on this team. Gotta turn it around quick with Auburn, FSU and Arkansas coming up. If we don't sweep Auburn, it will be disappointing. Horrible at bats this game. Idk why they do not try more small ball with runners on base, make the defense work. Too many times it seems like either a groundball double play happens or a infield flyout. I think Comia should stay as the DP.
I know we are all very disappointed in tonight. All we can do is to continue to support our girls and hope they learn from this and get better. Next up @ Auburn March 28-30 1st game at 7 pm on SEC + Go Gators! And thanks everyone for contributing
Yikes - Just got home and checked the stats & pbp here. Maybe all the time off had us rusty, but their pitcher must have been really sharp. UCF is always a well coached, well prepared team. We always have more talent, but they play hard. Gotta give them credit tonight and move on.
I'd also like to see players actually running hard on ground balls. Walsh and especially Brown aren't even trying to put pressure on the defense, just accepting they're out if the ball's on the ground. How about some competitive fire when things aren't going well?
There are definitely some flaws that are starting to show for this team. Especially if we want to compete against the likes of Texas and Oklahoma. But last year’s team also had a bad loss to USF around this same time. We didn’t really get hot until the latter half of the season. I still trust Walton to get this team right by postseason.
We had a pitchers from Baylor i think last year throw over 50% offspeed and had they pitched her more that series could have gone bad. Ifcall it takes is an offspeed pitch and a moderate rise ball to shut us out then we're in trouble because there's alot of film pit there already. Comia as DP would solve tge speed issue and lack of trying to get on base eith rounders. Brown may be tge slowest starter we have ever had. And it doesn't look like there has been any effort to increase her speed. C9mia probably gets on base 25% more if she hits the same balls to SS. Imwe need runners for tge power game to work as we refuse to try to put balls in play and drop bloopers.. it's to the wall effort instead of in tge gap effort in my opinion.
