I’ll say this and leave it there. I have an acquaintance who worked for the GAO several years ago. Out of their mouth “there would be a revolution in this country if taxpayers actually knew how much of their money is wasted”—-

It is weird how if there is all this waste, why does DOGE need to make so many mistakes and inflate things ridiculously? Also, since this unnamed aquaintance was at GAO, was he/she claiming to be bad at the job?

How much money do we save when we cut an $8 million dollar program but claim it is $8 billion? How much money is saved when we claim the same program 3 times? How much money is saved when you cancel a program in which the expenditure is already out?

I'm guessing you won't answer, because you don't like the answers to any of those questions. You just view this as a game.

Mistakes will be made when dealing with multi-trillion dollar budgets.

This is why DOGE is striving for transparency. Your team can correct DOGE's numbers. At the end of the day we should have a good idea of what was accomplished.

At some point more substantial overhauls will have to be made in areas like defense and healthcare.

Yeah, if a private company made billions upon billions of mistakes in their accounting, that wouldn't be excused, would it? Perhaps that is why auditors should be hired, not 19 year old Internet trolls (understanding your affinity for Internet trolls).

Sure buy in to a twitter account @WallStreet Apes" or perhaps get information not from out of the gutter:
    https://www.nytimes.com/2025/03/08/world/africa/africa-usaid-funds.html

"The biggest American humanitarian program in the world in 2024 was in the Democratic Republic of Congo, where the United States spent $910 million on food, water, sanitation and shelter for more than seven million displaced people, according to Bruno Lemarquis, the United Nations’ humanitarian coordinator in the country"
"The United States was also the biggest donor last year to Sudan, where it funded over 1,000 communal kitchens to feed starving people fleeing a brutal civil war. Those kitchens have now shuttered, and Sudan is facing “mass deaths from famine,” according to the United Nations human rights chief, Volker Turk."

Anyone that is partisan on this board(both left and right) can't believe that most in Govt are on the take somehow. If someone doesn't believe that then I usually just laugh at them and move on anymore. The amount of money being stolen from taxpayers by people from the left, right and middle is mind numbing. I don't know the exact number, but anyone arguing against auditing all Govt programs probably is either an idiot or on the take. Simple as that.

These programs are rarely just for humanitarian reasons. A lot of it is for laying the groundwork for getting the population to do our bidding if regime change is needed to install "our guy." Example: China or Russia is getting a lot of influence with an African gov't in a country that controls large amounts of say, uranium. We want a different president that will let the US control the uranium. Easier to engineer a coup when the population is on your side.

As for feeding the hungry, that can be done with private funds. The Democrats should get on it

Trump would like to help Myanmar following the deadly quakes, but because of the indiscriminate cuts to USAID, we are unable to effectively respond. USAID, for the relatively little spent on the program, has been a powerful tool for America's global influence and security as part of development, diplomacy and defense. Under Trump, two of the three pillars have been undercut.

^ This is actually perfect for Trump. He can do his usual lying about helping other people. The people who believe his lies can believe this lie about helping other people.

Then they can lie to themselves that they support helping people, and pretend that they don't actually enable the opposite.

    He is brilliant at lying.

There's a good podcast with Atul Gawande, the Assistant Director of USAID under Biden, explaining the value of USAID in saving lives.

    Hundreds of Thousands Will Die

Like cutting a program that provides AIDS medication to children in areas of Africa, who without the medications will die - all so Elon can have a tax break.
