By: Nick Marcinko -- March 23, 2025 The Florida Gators men’s basketball team punched their ticket to the Sweet 16 with a thrilling 77-75 win over UConn in the round of 32. The Huskies were back-to-back national champions and winners of 13 straight NCAA tournament games before Florida ended their season on Sunday afternoon. Senior guard Walter Clayton Jr. led the charge for the Gators, scoring 23 points on 6 of 14 shooting including 5 of 8 three-point attempts. With 2:54 left in the game, Clayton Jr. hit a three pointer to give Florida their first lead of the second half. With 1:07 to go and the Gators up three points, Clayton Jr. laced an off-balance triple to put UF up two possessions. Florida’s victory put social media in a frenzy.
