I'm surprised we only got 5 runs off Jax pitching. Stranded 8, but still thought we would score a lot more than 5 and get more than 6 hits. But a win is a win.

Poor communication there. Hesitating and not just acting on instinct is the issue with ss. Comia and Holtorf both. I will give Comia a little wiggle room there just because it was her first outing there in a bit but that ball should be hers all day long. How did she look overall to yall? I didn't get to watch as closely as I'd like.

Horrible strikezone today both sides from what I saw also. I'm sure that contributed to the walks. I know one of Ericksons abs she watched 2 called balls that were 100% strikes. And that pitch they struck Walsh out with in the 7th was so far inside.

There were several tonight that the fielder dove and missed by an inch. The one with Falby then rolled to the wall resulting in a triple.

That said, I think being aggressive will pay off in the long run and I hope the girls don't get conservative and take the safe play on the bounce.

General rule for outfielders is dive towards your backup, don't dive, or you better get it. For cf, that means diving side to side, but pretty much never straight in. For the corners, don't dive straight in or towards the line. If you miss, it turns into a triple or even an inside the park'r in a hurry. If you do it, you HAVE to get it.

DJ Lagway strolled in around the second inning and sat in the top corner between Ava's parents.

This one was a whole lot closer than the scoreboard indicated, which says something about our need for Rothrock to get healthy and Red to stay healthy, given that JU is 13-13. I didn't count JU's LOB but we got out of some jams by the skin of our teeth. Once bases loaded, once 2B and 3B -- if JU had situational hitting this one could have gone a different direction.

I give the JU coach props -- every one of the JU pitchers now gets to say, "I pitched against the #4 team in the country and ......" Apparently, JU even let one of their basketball players pitch for a couple of innings.

Comia didn't even move for the ball that dropped between her and kendra and I was there and Taylor called mia off ..sure I'll get crucified for that but Taylor needs to make those plays....she had the angle thats her ball all day. Ava and Kara need those outs. Callahan with more errors at 3rd ..that side needs to clean it up through this bit of a pitching slump we are going through. And for anyone that doesn't think that look at the walks AND HBP per game by all pitchers.
