I don't think they slot the times or the networks until they know the match-ups, so they can prioritize how they want to broadcast the games. I could be wrong, but I think that's right.
Couple of thoughts: Is Auburn on the verge of another quick tournament out? They have definitely been in a late season swoon. Gator opponents beware! If you are behind at halftime, your odds are very poor to beat the Gators!
Just goes to show. That team was good enough to get to the finals, yet almost got knocked out in Game 1. March Madness, man.
And that's the really sucky part. If only our fanbase knew where we would have been placed had we been a 2 seed. Put it this way, it would be on our side of the US most likely taking Tennessee's spot in Lexington and then Indianapolis. Tennessee is in a great spot, pretty much home until the Elite 8 with possibly the easiest path.
Tyrese Hunter and Dante Harris are both injured, but neither is officially ruled out yet. Because of those injuries, Baraka Okojie got some valuable experience and played well in the conference final against UAB.
Thanks for the info. Feel like even if they have a quality replacement, the reduced depth makes their potential matchup with us problematic for them. We will run bodies against whoever we play, you better be able to do the same or the end of the game is going to be difficult for you. Will be interesting to see if they can go.
Unfortunately for Memphis, if they can get past Colorado St, they then likely have to deal with Maryland. And KenPom actually has them as underdogs against CSU!
My 12 year old son’s friend just came over to play and brought his bracket. Knowing I’m a Gator fan, he tells me, “I actually have Florida going to the championship game.” They are good, I reply. Then he says, yeah, the problem is they haven’t played anyone hard. Me: “What? What about Auburn?” Him: “Yeah I looked at that, but it seemed close in the first half.” Then he ran to play in the yard, so I picked up his bracket to see that he has us losing the title game to Alabama! We played them, man. Twice!
Is that right? I thought 16 seeds usually had records, just against poor competition. This year, all the 16 seeds have almost the same record. Norfolk does have the best KenPom rating though, by quite a bit. KenPom predicts we should only beat them by 38.
I deleted my post and added it to the Norfolk preview thread instead since that was the better spot for it. Lol. It depends on the 16 seed, a lot of the teams that get in from smaller conferences usually aren’t the regular season champion and get hot to take the tournament. I don’t know the full history of 16 seeds but I’d venture to guess 24-10 is probably if not the best one of the absolute best records to be on that line. I actually just looked it up actually and the UBMC team that beat Virginia had an identical 24-10 record entering the tournament but the FDU team that beat Purdue was only 20-15 coming in.
