Totally agree. Seems like that would be a good role for her, but I wonder if she is okay with not being a starter anymore.

 

Not unless we want to lose one game. Just kidding -- I think Keegan is on another level and so should throw twice. At least until Red gets some more experience. I really like the idea of Ava as reliever.

That said, I know nothing about pitching and suggested before the season started that it might be our weak spot -- many, many, many posters set me straight with replies and down votes!

 

Hopefully she is ok doing whatever is best for the team.

 

My opinion, Red tires after 5. As a former starter turned reliever, I loved relieving once I did it. It is amazing how many games a good 2 inning reliever can save. A true team player wants the team to win and could care less if they are a starter or reliever. As an example, see this year's Basketball team. Tommy had the biggest smile of anyone and he doesn't start. Go Ava, help us win and get a ring!

 

She will. Just a freshman. Carrying all the pitching expectations and weight of holding the fort down while our ace recovers for a team with Natty winning expectations. She’s not perfect but I like what I’m seeing, Rick is going to be right yet again.

Double agree but the good thing in all this is as unfortunate as not having our ace is the team is having success. Back to back top four matchups without our ace and we come away even. Pretty good I’d say

When everyone is healthy I’m thinking Rothrock, Red, Rothrock. Ava off the bench if and when needed. Can’t put a price on TRUSTED, reliable reliever that can put out fires.

Wow you must have not been at the same game as me. Infield with great plays tonight. Mia with 2 ..but you couldn't have been there if you didn't know that. Rylee with an absolute scorcher and kenleigh with a great one as well. I'd say our infield is helping these pitchers out quite a bit. You have no idea how hard they have hit Oxley ALL WEEKEND. and her error is what scored. She is doing really good for a freshman but our infield is making some unbelievable plays for her.

 

She’s a Gator and has a huge role to play this season and beyond! I think she knows that and just wants her team to win.

 

Ok wow! You’re correct, I wasn’t there tonight. I’m super happy the entire defense played great tonight and we got the win! That said our outfield over the course of the season has vastly outperformed the infield. Fact. I’m overjoyed that the infield is catching up!

 

Does anyone know if keagan will pitch this week or just by next series?

 

If the defense coalesces around the time Keagan returns and the offense keeps doing its thing. Natty y’all!!!

 

I mean, we play JU and UNF this weekend, I would say no. Maybe get her in an inning if she feels ready and wants to get out there. Honestly, she isn't needed this week though.

 

Idk anything but my guess during this sec by week she gets a few pitches in against subpar competition to shake some rust off.

 

Missed the game, but will watch the tape tomorrow. Impressive pitching performance tonight. We were at the home of some friends on Lake Santa Fe with 2 other couples for a leisurely boat ride, great conversation and a meal of fried sea trout and hush puppies, the best cheese grits I've ever had, cole slaw and a wonderful dessert. 6 hours of great times that was worth missing the game. But am super happy our ladies got a win tonight. 3-3 without Rothrock against 2 Top 5 teams is really pretty good.
