Florida received a bid as the No. 3 seed on Sunday evening and will now get ready to host Northern Iowa (17-16, 11-9 MVC). Round one of the WBIT was slated for Thurs. Mar. 20, at 7 p.m. inside the O'Dome. The Gators will take on NIU after last playing on Mar. 7 in the SEC Tournament quarterfinals. Florida fell 101-87 to No. 9 LSU despite having six players in doubles figures for scoring. UF's loss to LSU ended their two-game run at the SEC Tournament for the second consecutive year. Northern Iowa will enter round one of the WBIT after falling to Belmont in the MVC quarterfinals. The Panthers were defeated 64-46 by Belmont and had two players hit double digits in scoring, Kayba Loube and Maya Mcdermott, both posting 12 points. The 2025 Women's Basketball Invitation Tournament championships will take place in Indianapolis at Hinkle Fieldhouse. The semifinal games are scheduled for March 31, 2025, and the championship game will be held on April 2, 2025. I'm happy to hear this. The team has been playing better late in the season and might just be able to pull out a winning season and give us a finish we can build on.
The title is a bit misleading... A #3 (the article says THE) seed. We are not a Top 4 seed and will play on the road in round 2 if seeds advance. Still... really need to win at least 2 or we have moved backward. The talent is there to win the thing.
I hope we have good support at this game because recruits and kids in the portal will be watching. I saw that Gracie Merkle is in the portal and she’s 6’6 with great hands and would be a great addition but may be highly sought after, also a few local (to FL) recruits reopened commitments after firings…we need to make a run and we need to have someone working the portal at the same time. It’s GO time for 2025-2026
UNI is a decent MM team with 2 players to watch maya McDermott - seems like she’s been playing college basketball for 10 years, in her final year…takes most of the teams shots. Will do whatever it takes to make sure she has at least 10 points ever game. Team can be down 100 points and 15 seconds left and she will be jacking up shots. Kayba laube - Another one who has been in college for 8 years (lol) expect this to be the other major impact player for UNI. Expect both of these 2 to play this game like it’s their last (it better be) They just got smoked by Belmont (Mid Major powerhouse imo) in their conference tourney so they will be looking to get back in the win column and we need to be ready. I think we can make a deep run but we can’t look past ANY opponent
