the dear leader rescinded the EO that required a min wage of $17.75 for federal contracts but the existing contractors can now just pocket the difference

hey MAGA, still think he gives a chit about the working man?

bunch of people going to be wondering wtf when they see their new pay scale

Trump nixes $17.75 minimum wage for federal contractors adopted by Biden

President Donald Trump has rescinded an executive order issued by his Democratic predecessor, Joe Biden, that required businesses that contract with the federal government to pay workers a minimum wage of $17.75 an hour.

Trump, a Republican, late on Friday repealed nearly 20 Biden-era memos and executive orders touching on a range of topics, including the 2021 mandate that significantly raised pay for workers on federal contracts.
    .....................
Federal contractors, including many of the country's largest companies, employ roughly 20% of the U.S. workforce.

For contracts entered into before Biden's order took effect on January 30, 2022, contractors will be required to pay workers $13.30 an hour under an Obama-era executive order. Other contractors will only be required to pay the federal minimum wage of $7.25 an hour or applicable state minimum wages of up to $17.50 an hour.

Good for Trump. If someone wants to quote a federal contract using workers who are paid the higher of the federal minimum wage or the state minimum wage then what is wrong with that. I am not advocating for paying below the legal minimum wage or pay below the table cash to avoid taxes.
It just saves the taxpayers money, I guess you are not for saving money for the taxpayers.

Saving 'us' money by low balling other Americans for their labor so rich people can pay less taxes ... that just sucks

Huh? Why would they pay the "higher" of the minimum wages and wouldn't that cost money to the customer/government? Don't you mean the lower of the minimum wages (i.e., the worker gets less money)? Seems like in the rush to frame this positively, you tried to have your cake and eat it too.

No if the fed minimum wage is $7.50 but the state the work is performed in is $10, you have to pay $10 which is higher than $7.50/

So your goal is to pay workers less than they were making based on a previously higher federal minimum wage in order to save money then, right?

It’s $17.50 per hour, not $7.50, but one would think they could hire better and more skilled workers with a higher salary. Am I wrong?

I doubt any quote issued on a contract using the $17.50 that was successfully awarded will pay less than what they quoted. Going forward quotes will be made using the legal minimum wages or higher. Most companies that I deal with do not pay minimum wage anyway. If we only paid minimum wage we would not have enough employees.

The federal minimum wage is $7.25 per hour. The $17.50 wage came from Biden's EO on government projects.

you know what does save taxpeyr money?

lots of IRS agents focused on high net worth individuals with intricate tax returns

proven, documented, transparent money maker...off with their heads...

are you against people paying their fair taxes? are you in favor of tax cuts for billionaires so people can get a third job?

Why? It appears to be legal to do so. You think a business is going to pay higher rates rather than profit?

Yes, minimum wages are generally not binding at this point due to labor shortages (at least until the demand for labor shifts due to a capital expenditure slowdown due to tariffs). But at least one of two things has to be true (truthfully, both could be true, but not neither):

    A. Wages will be lowered.
    B. Money won't be saved by the customer/government.

The only impact of the EO on the Federal minimum wage that I saw was to end the inmate worker program on a base that hosts a Federal Prison. (I hope that isn't too specific, haha.) Those guys made at or below minimum wage, and they were not exempted.

Even the janitors, or the people who work the commissaries, the mess halls, the onbase gym, and even the bowling alley made more than minimum before the change. None of them were impacted.

    Not so for the inmates.

Did anyone else know of anyone (not in Club Fed) actually impacted by the EO? I've been in govt contracting a long time, and was surprised at the time.
